Patreon, Substack, OnlyFans, or Ko-fi Creator Payout Frozen or Account Deplatformed: Exporting Subscriber Email CSV and Stripe Connect Portability¶
Emergency numbers differ by country. This page uses 911, the number for the United States and Canada. Many other countries use 112, 999, or another number. Find the number for your country.
Waking up to an automated email stating that your Patreon, Substack, Gumroad, Ko-fi, OnlyFans, Fourthwall, or Kick/Twitch creator account has had its payouts frozen, or has been permanently suspended for an alleged Trust & Safety or payment-processor violation, is an existential financial shock for an independent writer, podcaster, developer, artist, or video creator. In a single morning, 100% of your monthly recurring revenue (MRR) is placed into a 90-to-180-day rolling reserve hold, and if the platform disables your login dashboard before you have exported your audience roster, you lose the ability to contact the thousands of paying supporters who want to follow you. If your creator channel was hijacked by an external hacker rather than suspended by the platform, switch immediately to our creator channel hijacked by crypto livestream scam recovery guide; if you run a physical e-commerce storefront, pair this guide with our TikTok Shop, Amazon Seller, or Etsy store suspension and Plan of Action appeal and copyright strike extortion and DMCA counter-notice guides, and consult our global emergency numbers directory for urgent emergencies.
Surviving a creator-economy payout freeze or deplatforming depends on two technical realities that separate creators who recover 90% of their income within 72 hours from those who lose their business: (1) Owning an offline, weekly-exported Subscriber Email CSV (active + expired patrons), and (2) Understanding whether your platform uses a Direct Stripe Connect architecture (like Substack, Ghost, or Memberful, where you already control the underlying Stripe cus_... Customer and pm_... PaymentMethod tokens) versus a Merchant of Record / Aggregator architecture (like Patreon, Gumroad, or OnlyFans, where migrating recurring credit cards requires a formal PCI-compliant Stripe Data Portability PAN Migration). This guide walks you through immediate emergency triage, audience extraction, contesting false-positive Trust & Safety and Stripe MCC flags, and migrating your recurring subscriptions without forcing thousands of patrons to manually re-enter their credit cards.
Do this now¶
- Before clicking any appeal button or arguing with support, export your complete Subscriber / Patron Email CSV (
All Time: Active, Declined, Cancelled, and Free Followers) RIGHT NOW. If your dashboard is still accessible ("Payouts Paused"or"Under Review"state), your login could be revoked entirely within hours once a Trust & Safety ticket is opened. Immediately download your full audience CSV from Patreon (Audience -> Relationship Manager -> CSV Export), Substack (Dashboard -> Subscribers -> Export -> All columns), Ko-fi (More -> Subscribers / Supporters -> Export CSV), or Gumroad (Sales -> Export -> CSV) and save two copies offline. - Determine whether the freeze originated from the Creator Platform's Trust & Safety team OR from the underlying Payment Processor (
Stripe,PayPal,Payoneer, orAdyen). Check both your platform notifications and the email inbox tied to your Stripe Connect or PayPal account. A platform content flag (such as Patreon Community Guidelines or Substack Content Guidelines) requires a Content Compliance & Redaction Appeal, whereas a Stripe Risk / Chargeback / Prohibited Business (MCC) Reserve Hold requires submitting Proof of Delivery, Bank Statements, and Identity/Fulfillment Documentation inside the Stripe Dashboard. - Never ask angry supporters to file credit card chargebacks against the platform to "punish" them for banning you. When a creator is unfairly suspended and tells their fans on X (Twitter) or Discord to "file a chargeback with your bank to get your money back," pushing your account's dispute rate above
0.75% to 1.0%causes Visa/Mastercard (VDMP) and Stripe to permanently blacklist your legal name, Tax ID (SSN/EIN), and bank account on the MATCH / Terminated Merchant File (TMF) list, AND legally entitles the platform to seize 100% of your held balance to cover 15-per-dispute network fees. Instead, instruct the platform (or use your dashboard) to issue voluntary Platform Refunds if needed. - If you use
Substack,Ghost,Memberful,Podia, orKo-fi (Direct Stripe), log directly intodashboard.stripe.com, your recurring credit card tokens are ALREADY inside your own Stripe account. Creators on Direct Stripe Connect platforms often panic thinking a platform ban deletes their paid subscribers. Because Substack and Ghost charge subscribers inside your connected Stripe Standard/Express account, yourcus_...Customer objects,pm_...credit card tokens, andsub_...recurring billing schedules remain intact inside your Stripe account and can be plugged into a new self-hosted Ghost, WordPress, or Beehiiv site in under 2 hours with zero subscriber churn. - If you are leaving
Patreon,Gumroad, or another hosted platform with500+paying subscribers, submit a formal "Stripe Data Portability / Recurring Token Migration Request" BEFORE deleting your account. If you delete your Patreon or creator account out of frustration, the platform permanently purges the Stripe customer payment tokens associated with your patrons. Keep the old account alive (or in an appealed/offboarding state) while your new platform initiates an encrypted PCI-DSS Processor-to-Processor Token Migration. - Submit a single, structured, emotion-free Compliance & Risk Appeal within 48 hours. Do not send angry all-caps messages or threaten legal action in the support ticket (which forces frontline Trust & Safety agents to immediately close your ticket and route your account to an unreachable Legal Hold queue). Follow the exact structured Trust & Safety / Payment Risk Appeal Template in Part 3 below.
Danger
Why Opening a "Second Account" After a Ban Guarantees an Instant Permanent Freeze of Your New Funds: Creator platforms and Stripe Connect use automated cross-account identity linking: your Government ID (Persona / Stripe Identity), Tax ID (W-9 SSN/EIN or W-8BEN), ** Payout Bank Routing/IBAN**, Browser Fingerprint, and Residential IP. If you open a brand-new Patreon, Substack, or OnlyFans account using the same bank account or ID while your first account is suspended, the automated fraud engine lets you collect money from fans for 14 days and then freezes the second account right before your first payout. Always resolve the appeal on your primary account OR migrate your audience to an independent platform/processor where you are in full compliance with their Acceptable Use Policy.

Part 1: The 5-Minute Subscriber CSV Rescue Protocol (Platform-by-Platform Exact Paths)¶
Your creator business is not your platform URL, it is the direct relationship and contact list of the human beings who pay for your work. If you still have even temporary read-only access to your dashboard (or every Sunday evening as mandatory preventative hygiene), execute the exact export steps below:
Exact Click-Paths to Export Your Paying & Free Audience CSV¶
| Creator Platform | Exact Dashboard Click-Path to Export Subscriber Emails | What Data Is Included in the CSV | Critical Gotcha to Avoid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Patreon | Audience -> Relationship Manager -> clear all filters (so Active, Declined, Cancelled, and Free Members are all included) -> click the CSV (Download) button in the top right corner. | Patron Name, Email Address, Pledge Amount, Tier Name, Lifetime Spend, Join Date, Patron Status, and Shipping Address (if collected). | By default, Patreon's view may filter to Active only. Clear filters to export former/cancelled patrons and free members too, they are your warmest re-launch leads. |
| Substack | Creator Dashboard -> Subscribers -> scroll to the subscriber table -> click Export (top right of table) -> select All Subscribers and All Columns -> click Export CSV. (Also go to Settings -> Exports -> New Export to download a .zip of all your HTML posts). |
Subscriber Email Address, Subscription Type (Free, Monthly, Annual, Founding), stripe_customer_id (cus_...), Start/Expiry Date, and Open Rate stats. |
Always download both the Subscriber CSV and the full Posts Archive .zip so you can import every article and subscriber into Ghost, Beehiiv, or WordPress in 10 minutes. |
| Ko-fi | More -> Supporters & Subscribers (or Shop Orders / Commissions) -> click Export CSV at the top of the table. | Supporter Name, Email Address, Tier/Recurring Status, Transaction ID, Amount, and Note. | Export all three tabs separately: One-Off Supporters, Monthly Subscribers, and Shop Buyers. |
| Gumroad | Sales -> Customers -> click Export (top right) -> select Export All Customers to CSV (delivered to your email or direct download). | Customer Email Address, Product Purchased, Price, Recurring Subscription Status, Country, and License Key. | If you have multiple products, make sure "All Products" is selected before clicking Export. |
| Twitch / Kick | Creator Dashboard -> Analytics -> Achievements / Revenue -> Subscribers -> Download My Subscriber List (CSV) + Export Follower List via Twitch API tools. |
Subscriber Username, Tier (Tier 1/2/3/Prime), Streak, and Sub Date. (Note: Twitch/Kick do not expose fan email addresses for privacy; build an external Discord/Email list). |
Because live-streaming platforms and OnlyFans do not give creators raw fan email addresses, you must maintain a pinned link to an independent email newsletter (ConvertKit/Buttondown) or Discord server. |
Part 2: Understanding Payment Token Ownership (Direct Stripe Connect vs. Merchant of Record)¶
When a creator with 2,000 paying monthly subscribers at 10/month (20,000/month MRR) wants to leave a platform, or is forced off a platform, the biggest fear is Re-Subscribe Friction: if you send an email asking 2,000 people to pull out their wallet and type in their 16-digit credit card on a new site, typically 35% to 60% of subscribers procrastinate or drop off immediately.
Whether you can move your recurring subscribers without them re-typing their credit cards depends on which of the two payment architectures your platform uses:
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| ARCHITECTURE A: DIRECT STRIPE STANDARD / EXPRESS CONNECT |
| (Substack, Ghost Pro, Memberful, Podia, Fourthwall, Ko-fi Direct Stripe) |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| [Subscriber Card] ---> [YOUR Own Stripe Account (acct_...)] |
| +-- Customer Object (cus_...) |
| +-- Card PaymentMethod (pm_... / card_...) |
| +-- Subscription Schedule (sub_...) |
| * RESULT: You ALREADY own the credit card tokens. Even if Substack/Ghost |
| closes your site, the recurring subscriptions live inside YOUR Stripe |
| account. Connect your same Stripe account to a new platform = 0% Churn. |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| ARCHITECTURE B: PLATFORM MERCHANT OF RECORD / AGGREGATOR |
| (Patreon, OnlyFans, Gumroad, Buy Me a Coffee, Twitch, Fanfix) |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| [Subscriber Card] ---> [PLATFORM'S Master Vault (Patreon/OF/Gumroad)] |
| | |
| +---> Pays Out Net Balance to Your Bank/Stripe |
| * RESULT: The platform holds the card vault. Moving cards without fans |
| re-typing requires a formal PCI-DSS Processor-to-Processor Token |
| Portability Migration (or a High-Conversion CSV Re-Pledge Campaign). |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
1. How to Migrate With ZERO Churn If You Are on Substack, Ghost, Memberful, or Ko-fi (Direct)¶
If your platform connected to your own Stripe Standard account via OAuth:
1. Log into https://dashboard.stripe.com using your personal Stripe login credentials.
2. Click Customers and Subscriptions on the left navigation bar. You will see every single one of your paying subscribers listed right there inside your own Stripe account, complete with their active recurring billing cycles (sub_...) and saved credit cards (pm_...).
3. If you are moving away from the platform:
- Open Stripe Settings -> Installed Apps / Authorized Applications (dashboard.stripe.com/settings/apps) and inspect the platform's OAuth connection.
- When you import your Substack/Memberful Subscriber CSV (which contains each user's stripe_customer_id) into a new platform like Ghost, WordPress (WooCommerce Subscriptions / MemberPress), Outpost, or Beehiiv, you simply connect the exact same Stripe account to your new platform.
- Your new platform maps each subscriber's email to their existing cus_... and sub_... ID inside your Stripe account. Your subscribers never have to re-enter their credit card, and your next monthly billing cycle processes smoothly.
2. How to Request a Formal "Stripe Connect / PCI Data Portability PAN Migration"¶
What if your subscribers are stored inside a platform's master account, or you need to copy cus_... / card_... tokens from one Stripe account (Source Account) to another Stripe account (Destination Account)?
- Under Stripe's Official Data Portability Policy (stripe.com/docs/security/data-migrations/pan-copy) and PCI-DSS industry standards, raw 16-digit Primary Account Numbers (PANs) can never be emailed to you in a spreadsheet, but they CAN be cryptographically copied directly from the Source Processor Vault to your Destination Stripe Account Vault:
1. Open your Destination Stripe Account (dashboard.stripe.com) and complete business verification.
2. Submit a Stripe Data Migration / Account Copy Request via Stripe Support (support.stripe.com/contact) specifying a Stripe-to-Stripe Account PAN Copy or an External Processor Import (migrations@stripe.com).
3. Platform Authorization: The Source Platform must authorize the export of the customer mapping file associated with your creator ID. While Substack, Ghost, Kajabi, Memberful, and Patreon support token portability or account dissociation in offboarding cases, closed aggregators (like OnlyFans or Twitch) do not release card vaults, making your Exported Email CSV + Discord/Telegram Channel your primary lifeline.
Part 3: How to Contest a False-Positive Payout Freeze or Trust & Safety Suspension (And Recover Held Funds)¶
Whether you decide to stay on the platform or leave, you must fight to unlock any frozen payout balance (1,000 to 100,000+) sitting inside your account. When a platform or payment processor freezes your payouts, they typically cite a vague "Risk Review" or "Terms of Service Violation" and threaten to hold funds for 90 to 180 days.
1. Diagnosing the 4 Exact Triggers Behind Creator Payout Freezes¶
| Freeze Trigger | Why the Automated System Flagged You | Exact Evidence Packet that Unlocks the Hold |
|---|---|---|
| Trigger 1: The "Sudden Viral Spike / Money-Laundering" Velocity Alert | Your account normally processes 2,000/month, and suddenly a viral post, podcast appearance, or new product launch brings in 25,000 in 48 hours. Payment risk engines (Stripe Radar, PayPal Risk, Patreon Fraud) automatically freeze payouts to verify you did not steal 500 credit cards and pay yourself. |
The "Viral Traffic & Fulfillment Proof" Packet: Send screenshots of the exact viral X/YouTube/Reddit/TikTok post that drove the spike, Google Analytics / platform traffic graphs, links to your public social profiles (10,000+ followers), and screenshots showing digital rewards were immediately delivered to patrons. |
| Trigger 2: Card-Testing / Stolen-Card Bot Attack Against Your Page | Criminal carders run an automated script against your 1 or 5 Patreon/Ko-fi tier to test 2,000 stolen credit card numbers. Even though you are the victim of the bot attack, the 1,800 declined transactions and subsequent chargebacks trip an automatic account suspension. | The "Victim of Card-Testing" Audit: Point support to the exact UTC 2-hour window where hundreds of 1 accounts with gibberish names joined from datacenter/VPN IPs. Ask the platform's Fraud Team to bulk-refund and void every transaction from that window before they turn into bank chargebacks. |
Trigger 3: Prohibited Content / Adult (NSFW) / Copyright / Raffles Policy Violation |
An automated keyword scanner (or a malicious mass-report brigade) flagged a post for: (a) Running a "raffle / lottery / giveaway" for paid patrons (which violates illegal gambling laws on Patreon/Ko-fi/Stripe), (b) Crossing the platform's specific NSFW/illustration rules, or © Copyright/DMCA flags. | The "Proactive Audit & Removal" POA: Never argue philosophy with a frontline reviewer. Immediately remove or edit the specific offending phrase/post (e.g., convert a paid "raffle" into a legal sweepstakes or tier reward), document the exact compliance change, and request reinstatement. |
Trigger 4: KYC / Tax ID (W-9 / W-8BEN / DAC7) or Sanctioned Keyword Mismatch |
Your legal name on your W-9/W-8BEN or EU DAC7 tax form did not match the name on your bank account, OR a supporter wrote a joke in a Ko-fi/PayPal payment note mentioning a sanctioned country (such as "Cuban cigars", "Iran", "North Korea", or "Syria"), tripping an automatic OFAC Sanctions Compliance Freeze. |
The Identity & OFAC Clarification Packet: Upload a high-resolution color scan of your Passport/Driver's License, a PDF bank statement showing your exact legal name and account number, and a written attestation explaining the supporter's benign payment note. |
2. Copy-Paste Creator Payout Unfreeze & Trust & Safety Appeal Template¶
Submit this structured appeal through the platform's official Trust & Safety / Risk review portal (or via Stripe Dashboard -> Settings -> Compliance / Verifications if frozen directly by Stripe):
Subject: Formal Compliance & Payout Review - [Your Creator/Account URL] (Account Email: [you@domain.com])

Warning
The "Illegal Raffle / Giveaway" Trap That Gets Thousands of Creators Frozen on Patreon, Ko-fi, and Stripe: Under US/UK/EU gambling laws and Visa/Mastercard rules, requiring someone to pay money (such as being a paid 5/month Patron or Ko-fi subscriber) to be entered into a random drawing for a prize has all three legal elements of an illegal unlicensed lottery (Prize + Chance + Consideration). Automated scanners on Patreon, Ko-fi, Gumroad, and Stripe actively scan post text for the words "raffle", "lottery", "giveaway for paid patrons", and "ticket drawing" and immediately freeze your payouts. Never run paid raffles; either offer a guaranteed reward to every member of a tier, or include a legally compliant "No Purchase Necessary" free entry method where permitted.
Part 4: Executing an Emergency 48-Hour Audience Relaunch (Converting Your CSV at 70%+ Retention)¶
If a Merchant-of-Record platform (Patreon, Gumroad, OnlyFans, Buy Me a Coffee) upholds a permanent suspension because your niche (such as adult content, firearm education, political commentary, or cybersecurity tooling) falls outside their payment processor's updated risk appetite, do not waste months fighting a closed door. Execute a 48-Hour Sovereign Relaunch:
1. Choose a Platform Architecture Where You Own Both the Email List and the Domain¶
- Stand up your new hub on your own custom domain (
support.yourname.comoryourname.com): - For Writers, Podcasters, & Video Creators: Self-hosted or managed Ghost, WordPress (
MemberPress/Paid Memberships Pro/WooCommerce), Fourthwall, or Substack / Beehiiv (connected to your own Stripe account + custom domain). - For Digital Product Creators: Lemon Squeezy, Payhip, Fourthwall, or WooCommerce on your own domain.
- Why a Custom Domain Is Non-Negotiable: When subscribers bookmark
yourname.comand subscribe to an RSS feed atyourname.com/rss, you can swap out the backend CMS or payment processor in the future without a single fan ever noticing a URL change.
2. How to Import Your Subscriber CSV Without Triggering Spam Filters (And Convert Paid Fans)¶
Never dump a 10,000-person exported Patreon CSV into a brand-new Gmail account and hit "Send All", Gmail will block your account after 100 emails.
1. Import the CSV into a Creator-Friendly Email Service Provider (ESP) or Newsletter Platform (such as Ghost, Beehiiv, Kit/ConvertKit, Buttondown, or Amazon SES with SPF/DKIM/DMARC configured on your custom domain).
2. Segment your exported CSV into two groups before emailing:
- Group A: Active Paying Subscribers (Who just had their billing interrupted by the platform ban).
- Group B: Former/Cancelled Paying Subscribers + Free Followers.
3. Send Group A the "Founding Member Bridge Offer":
- Tell them transparently and calmly in 4 short paragraphs: (1) Our old platform account was closed/migrated so we have moved to our permanent independent home at [YourDomain.com], (2) We have already granted your email address 30 days of complimentary full paid access on the new site so your content and private podcast feed are uninterrupted today, and (3) Click the 1-click Apple Pay / Google Pay / Link button below to activate your recurring membership on our new independent site (with a special permanent 15% Founding Member loyalty discount).
- Offering Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Stripe Link (1-Click SMS Autofill) on your new checkout page eliminates the need for fans to walk across the house to find their physical wallet, boosting migration conversion rates from 35% to 70%+.
Tip
Automate a Sunday Night "3-Minute Creator Backup Ritual": Set a recurring calendar reminder for every Sunday at 8:00 PM: (1) Click Export CSV on your Patreon/Substack/Ko-fi subscriber list and save it to an encrypted local folder (Subscriber_Backup_YYYY_MM_DD.csv), and (2) Keep an independent Discord Server, Telegram Channel, or Free Substack/Email List linked in the bio of all your social media profiles. When you own a backup email list and a Discord server, no single tech company on earth has the power to fire you overnight.
Regional emergency numbers and financial/regulatory escalation bodies¶
If a creator platform or payment processor withholds your earned payout balance beyond their stated reserve window (typically 90 to 180 days) without a court order or valid chargeback liability, escalate through these official regulatory and financial ombudsman channels:
- United States: File a regulatory complaint against the payment institution (PayPal, Stripe, Block/Square) with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (
consumerfinance.gov/complaint) and the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (dfpi.ca.gov) (where Patreon, Substack, Gumroad, and Stripe are headquartered). Call 911 for any immediate physical emergency. - United Kingdom: Payment processors operating in the UK (Stripe Payments UK Ltd, PayPal UK Ltd) are regulated Electronic Money Institutions (
EMIs). If a processor fails to resolve your formal Final Response complaint, escalate free of charge to the UK Financial Ombudsman Service (financial-ombudsman.org.uk,0800 023 4567). Emergency: 999. - European Union: Under Article 4 of the EU Platform-to-Business (
P2B) Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2019/1150) and the Digital Services Act (DSA), platforms must provide business users with a specific written statement of reasons and access to certified Out-of-Court Dispute Settlement Bodies. Escalate PayPal Europe holds to the Luxembourg CSSF (cssf.lu) and Stripe Europe holds to Ireland's Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (fspo.ie). Emergency: 112. - Canada: Escalate unresolved payment processor holds through your provincial Consumer Protection Office, the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (
obsi.ca), and the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (fcac-acfc.gc.ca). Emergency: 911. - Australia and New Zealand: In Australia (000), file a free binding dispute with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (
afca.org.au,1800 931 678) and the Small Business Ombudsman (asbfeo.gov.au). In New Zealand (111), contact Financial Services Complaints Ltd (fscl.org.nz). - Asia-Pacific: In Singapore (999), contact FIDReC (
fidrec.com.sg); in India (112), file via the RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme (cms.rbi.org.in). See our complete directory at emergency numbers.
Frequently asked questions¶
Can a creator platform legally keep my earned payout money forever if they ban my account?¶
No. Unless your funds are frozen pursuant to a government law-enforcement seizure warrant or OFAC sanctions hit, neither a creator platform nor a payment processor (Stripe, PayPal) is legally permitted to confiscate legitimate earned revenue permanently as a "fine." Under their Merchant Terms of Service, when an account is terminated for a policy or risk violation, the processor places your remaining balance into a **90-to-180-day Rolling Reserve Hold** to cover any potential customer credit card chargebacks (since Visa and Mastercard give cardholders up to 120 to 180 days to dispute a charge). Once that 90-to-180-day chargeback window expires, the remaining net balance must be disbursed to your bank account or refunded to the original cardholders.
Why is it catastrophic to tell my fans to file credit card chargebacks after my Patreon or creator account is banned?¶
Instructing your fans to initiate bank chargebacks destroys your ability to recover your held payout balance and can permanently blacklist you from the internet banking system. First, every single chargeback hits your frozen account balance with an automatic **15.00 non-refundable network dispute fee** on top of the refunded pledge. Second, if your account's dispute ratio crosses **0.75% to 1.0%** of total transactions, Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe place your legal name, Tax ID (`SSN`/`EIN`), and bank account onto the global **MATCH / Terminated Merchant File (`TMF`)** blacklist for 5 years, preventing you from opening a new Stripe, Shopify, or Square account anywhere else.
If I leave Substack or Ghost, do my paying subscribers have to re-enter their credit cards on my new site?¶
No. Because Substack, Ghost, Memberful, and Podia use **Direct Stripe Standard/Express Connect**, your subscribers' credit card tokens (`pm_...`), Customer profiles (`cus_...`), and active recurring billing schedules (`sub_...`) live directly inside **your own Stripe account** (`dashboard.stripe.com`), not in a shared platform vault. When you export your Subscriber CSV and connect that exact same Stripe account to a new Ghost, WordPress, or Beehiiv website, your existing paid subscriptions continue billing automatically without a single subscriber needing to re-enter their card.
Why did Stripe or Patreon freeze my payouts right after I had my biggest launch month ever?¶
Automated payment risk engines (`Stripe Radar`, `PayPal Risk`) monitor every creator account for sudden statistical deviations from its historical baseline. If an account that normally earns 1,500 a month suddenly processes 20,000 in 48 hours after a viral post or launch, an automated velocity rule pauses payouts to verify that the account was not hijacked to run stolen credit cards or sell non-existent goods. You can usually clear a velocity hold within 24 to 72 hours by submitting a calm ticket containing links to the viral social media post/video that drove the traffic, website analytics screenshots, proof of digital reward delivery, and your government ID.
What happens to my subscriber email list if Patreon or Ko-fi bans my account before I ever exported a CSV?¶
If your account login is completely disabled before you exported a CSV, first check the email account linked to your platform: search your inbox for `"New patron"`, `"New subscriber"`, or `"New supporter"` notification emails and use a free email-parser tool (or Thunderbird local `.mbox` export with a simple regex extract) to pull the names and email addresses of supporters from your historical notification emails. Second, if you are located in the UK, EU, or California, you can submit a formal **Data Subject / Business User Data Export Request** (`GDPR` / `EU P2B Regulation Art. 4 & 9` / `CCPA`) requesting an export of the customer relationship records generated by your business prior to termination.
Why did my creator account get flagged for running a monthly "Patron-Only Raffle" or giveaway?¶
Across the United States, Canada, the UK, the EU, and Visa/Mastercard/Stripe Acceptable Use Policies, any giveaway that requires participants to pay money (including belonging to a paid 5/month Patreon, Substack, or Ko-fi tier) to enter a random drawing for a prize constitutes an **unlicensed lottery** (`Prize + Chance + Consideration`). Platforms use automated text scanners to flag the words `"raffle"`, `"lottery"`, and `"ticket drawing"`, freezing payouts immediately. Always structure patron perks as guaranteed tier benefits for all members at that level rather than random-chance drawings.
