Criminal and civil laws protecting victims of NCII and AI Deepfakes¶

Distributing real or AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery is no longer a legal gray area; it is a serious criminal offense and federal civil tort across almost the entire developed world:

• United States:
  • 49 U.S. States + Washington D.C., Guam, and Puerto Rico have enacted specific criminal Non-Consensual Pornography / NCII statutes making it a misdemeanor or felony to disclose intimate images without consent.

Can I still use a DMCA Copyright Takedown Notice if my ex-partner is the one who held the phone and took the photo of me?¶
