Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (Revenge Porn) and Emergency Takedown Procedures¶
Having private intimate photos, sexually explicit deepfakes, or a maliciously edited defamatory video posted online without your consent is a severe violation of your privacy, safety, and civil rights. Whether an abusive ex-partner leaked private images (Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery / NCII, commonly called "revenge porn"), a hacker breached your cloud storage, or a stranger posted a deceptive viral video targeting your livelihood, you have powerful legal, technical, and cryptographic tools to stop the spread, force hosting platforms and Google Search to purge the links within hours, and hold the perpetrator accountable.
Faça isso agora¶
- Gere um hash criptográfico no dispositivo em
StopNCII.orgimmediately (for adults 18+) orTakeItDown.ncmec.org(if under 18 when the image was made). If you still possess the original intimate photo or video file on your phone or computer,StopNCII.orgcreates a digital fingerprint (hash) directly inside your browser without uploading the image anywhere, automatically blocking the file across Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, Reddit, OnlyFans, Pornhub, X/Twitter, and Bumble. - Capture full-screen forensic evidence (including exact full URLs and timestamps) BEFORE the perpetrator deletes their post or before you block them. Take uncropped screenshots showing the uploader's
@username, permanent profile URL, post timestamp, view/share count, and full web address (https://...), and save a local screen-recording or HTML/WARC copy of the page for police and civil attorneys.

| Instagram, Facebook, & Threads (Meta) | In-app: Tap ... on the post -> Report -> Nudity or sexual activity -> Sharing private images.Web form (Even without an account): Meta Help Center -> Report Non-Consensual Intimate Images |
Select "It shows me or someone I know nude or in a sexual act without permission" and check the option to block re-uploads. |
| X (formerly Twitter) | X Help Center -> Contact Us -> "Report private personal information or non-consensual nudity" | Select "An image or video of me was shared without my consent" -> Provide the exact x.com/username/status/123... tweet URLs. X's policy strictly prohibits both real NCII and AI-generated explicit deepfakes/creepshots. |
reddit.com/report -> "It's involuntary pornography" -> "It appears to be me" |
Reddit's Trust & Safety team treats first-party involuntary pornography reports (It appears to be me) como uma emergência imediata, limpando a postagem e banindo permanentemente a conta e o subreddit do remetente se for dedicado a vazamentos. |
|
| TikTok | In-app: Long-press video -> Report -> Nudity and sexual content -> Non-consensual intimate imagery / Adult sexual abuse. Web Legal Form: TikTok "Report Privacy Violation / Intellectual Property" |
Provide the direct tiktok.com/@user/video/... link and timestamp. |
| Telegram | Forward the post link or channel URL with a brief statement ("Non-consensual intimate imagery of me posted without consent") to abuse@telegram.org AND dmca@telegram.org, and use in-app Report -> Personal Details / Pornography |
Telegram channels used for NCII/doxxing leaks are removed faster when you submit both an in-app report and a simultaneous DMCA / Abuse email citing exact t.me/... message links. |
| Discord | In-app: Right-click message -> Report Message -> Non-consensual sexual content. Web Portal: Discord Trust & Safety ( dis.gd/request -> Trust & Safety -> Non-Consensual Pornography) |
Include the Message Link / Channel ID / User ID (enable Developer Mode in Discord Advanced Settings to copy exact 18-digit numeric IDs). |
| Rede Pornhub / Aylo e OnlyFans | Pornhub Content Removal Request Form (pornhub.com/content-removal); OnlyFans (dmca@onlyfans.com / privacy@onlyfans.com) |
Major adult tube networks immediately delete any video flagged via their NCII Content Removal form without requiring you to create an account, and automatically add the video's MD5/PhotoDNA hash to their global blocklist. |
Part 4: The "Selfie Copyright" DMCA Takedown Nuclear Option (17 U.S.C. § 512)¶
What do you do if your private photos, or a personal video you recorded on your phone, were uploaded to an uncooperative third-party gossip blog, an anonymous "exposure" forum, a cyber-harassment site, or a file-sharing host (Mega, Dropbox, GoFile, Imgur) that ignores polite privacy requests?
Why the DMCA works when privacy complaints fail¶
Under United States Copyright Law (17 U.S.C. § 102 and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512©) and equivalent international Berne Convention copyright treaties (EU Digital Services Act / InfoSoc Directive, UK CDPA, Canadian Copyright Act, Australian Copyright Act):
- The second you press the shutter button on your smartphone to take a selfie or record a video in a mirror, YOU are the legal author and sole owner of the copyright in that photograph or video. (You do not need to register the copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office first to send a valid DMCA takedown notice, as copyright attaches automatically the instant the file is saved to your phone's memory.)
- Even if you voluntarily texted that selfie to an ex-partner two years ago, texting someone a photo grants them zero legal copyright ownership and zero commercial/public distribution license.
- Why web hosts and Cloudflare obey DMCA notices immediately: To keep their "Safe Harbor" immunity from being sued for up to $150,000 per willful copyright infringement, web hosting companies, cloud storage providers, and CDNs must expeditiously remove or disable access to any file upon receiving a legally compliant DMCA § 512©(3) notice.
How to find the hidden Web Host or CDN behind a rogue website¶
If the website owner itself is anonymous or malicious, do not bother emailing the website administrator; instead, serve your DMCA and Terms-of-Service Abuse Notice directly on the infrastructure company keeping their server online:
- Look up the site's Hosting Provider and Abuse Email:
- Go to a free WHOIS / ASN lookup tool (
lookup.icann.org,whoishostingthis.com, oubgp.he.net) and enter the website's domain name. - If the site hides behind Cloudflare (its IP addresses start with
104.x.x.xou172.64.x.x), submit your DMCA / NCII Abuse report atcloudflare.com/abuse. Cloudflare will immediately forward the notice to the true underlying origin web host and reveal the origin hosting provider's name and abuse email address to you on the confirmation screen.
- Go to a free WHOIS / ASN lookup tool (
Copy-paste DMCA 17 U.S.C. § 512©(3) Emergency Takedown Notice Template¶
Send this notice to the platform's or web host's designated DMCA Agent (dmca@... ou copyright@...) whenever the leaked photo or video is one you took or recorded yourself:
Subject: URGENT DMCA Copyright Infringement Takedown Notice (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)) & Non-Consensual Intimate Media Violation
To the Designated Copyright Agent and Trust & Safety / Abuse Team:
Pursuant to Section 512(c)(3) of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512), I am submitting this formal notification of unauthorized copyright infringement (as well as non-consensual distribution of private intimate imagery in violation of your Acceptable Use Policy) occurring on servers under your control.
1. IDENTIFICATION OF THE COPYRIGHTED WORK:
The copyrighted work at issue is a private original photograph [or audiovisual video recording] created and captured solely by me on my personal recording device, to which I hold exclusive, all-rights-reserved copyright ownership.
2. IDENTIFICATION OF THE INFRINGING MATERIAL TO BE REMOVED (EXACT URLs):
The unauthorized, infringing copies of my copyrighted work are currently hosted at the following exact URL(s):
- [Paste Exact Webpage URL 1: https://example.com/post/12345]
- [Paste Exact Direct Image/Video File URL 2: https://cdn.example.com/media/abc.jpg]
3. CONTACT INFORMATION OF COMPLAINANT:
- Legal Name: [Your Full Legal Name]
- Email Address: [Use a dedicated incident email address, e.g., firstname.lastname.legal@gmail.com, so your home address is not exposed]
- Mailing Address / Telephone: [Address or C/O Attorney/Advocate Address and Phone Number]
4. STATUTORY GOOD-FAITH AND ACCURACY STATEMENTS:
- I have a good-faith belief that the use of the copyrighted material described above in the manner complained of is not authorized by me (the copyright owner), any agent of mine, or the law.
- The information in this notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I state that I am the owner (or authorized to act on behalf of the owner) of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
5. ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE:
/s/ [Your Full Legal Name]
Date: [Current Date]
Tip
Protect your home address when sending DMCA notices: Because some platforms forward a copy of a DMCA notice to the uploader, never put your private residential home street address on a DMCA notice if you are hiding from a stalker or abusive ex. Instead, use a P.O. Box, a workplace/attorney mailing address, or ask the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI) or a legal aid clinic how to submit the notice safely, and always create a separate, clean Gmail/ProtonMail address exclusively for filing takedown notices.
Part 5: Defamatory viral videos, out-of-context recordings, and workplace triage¶
What if the crisis is not an explicit nude photo, but a maliciously edited TikTok, Instagram Reel, YouTube Short, or X video where a stranger filmed you without permission, fabricated a false accusation against you, and a "cancel mob" of strangers is now doxxing you and calling your employer?
Step 1: Avoid the "Streisand Effect" (Never argue in the comments)¶
- Do NOT post an emotional, angry, or rambling response video or argue in the uploader's comment section: Social media engagement algorithms (especially TikTok, Reels, and X) rank videos strictly by comment velocity, watch-time loops, and quote-posts. Leaving 20 comments defending yourself under a viral video literally instructs the algorithm to push that video to 500,000 more strangers, and online trolls will clip your emotional response into a "Part 2" video.
- Lock down your personal attack surface in 10 minutes:
- Hibernate your LinkedIn profile immediately (
Settings & Privacy -> Account preferences -> Hibernate account) before strangers find where you work. - Set Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and X to Private, disable tagging and mentions from non-followers, and strip your city and employer name out of all bios.
- Hibernate your LinkedIn profile immediately (
Step 2: Use Platform "Privacy / Personal Information / Harassment" takedown portals¶
Even when a non-explicit video was filmed in a semi-public setting, platforms will remove a viral video when it crosses into Targeted Harassment, Doxxing (PII), or European/UK/California Privacy Rights:
- Report Doxxing / Personal Identifiable Information (PII): If the video, its on-screen text, its audio, or the uploader's pinned comment reveals your full name paired with your workplace, home address, personal phone number, email, or car license plate to incite a mob to call or harass you, report the video specifically under "Sharing Private Personal Information (Doxxing) / Coordinating Harassment" (rather than "I don't like this video").
- YouTube & TikTok "First-Party Privacy Complaint" Process: Both YouTube (
support.google.com/youtube/answer/142443Privacy Complaint Process) and TikTok allow any individual who is uniquely identifiable by face, full name, or voice in a video uploaded without their consent to file a First-Party Privacy Violation Takedown Request, particularly when the video was filmed in a place with a reasonable expectation of privacy (inside a private home, medical clinic, workplace back-office, or locker room) or causes targeted harassment.
Step 3: Proactively warn your Employer HR and Manager (With the exact script)¶
If an ex-partner threatens to email leaked photos to your boss, or if a viral TikTok mob discovers where you work, always beat the harasser to the punch by notifying HR and your direct supervisor first. Employers almost universally protect an employee who warns them calmly in advance of an online extortion or harassment attack.
Copy-Paste Script for HR and Your Manager: "Hi [Manager / HR Name], I am writing to alert you proactively to a personal cybersecurity and harassment situation. I am currently the target of an unlawful online harassment [or extortion / non-consensual image / defamatory video] campaign, and I have already filed an official report with law enforcement [Police Report # if available]. A common tactic used in these online harassment campaigns is emailing or calling the victim's employer, or leaving fake 1-star Google reviews mentioning the employee's name, in an attempt to cause workplace disruption. I have locked down my public profiles, and I wanted to give you and the reception/IT teams a heads-up so any anonymous emails or calls can be filtered or saved as evidence for the police investigation."
Criminal and civil laws protecting victims of NCII and AI Deepfakes¶
Distributing real or AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery is no longer a legal gray area; it is a serious criminal offense and federal civil tort across almost the entire developed world:
- United States:
- 49 U.S. States + Washington D.C., Guam, and Puerto Rico have enacted specific criminal Non-Consensual Pornography / NCII statutes making it a misdemeanor or felony to disclose intimate images without consent.
- Federal Civil Right of Action (15 U.S.C. § 6851, Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2022): Gives every adult victim in the United States a federal civil lawsuit right to sue anyone who discloses an intimate visual depiction without consent for $150,000 in liquidated statutory damages (even without proving exact financial loss), plus full attorney's fees and an immediate federal court temporary restraining order (injunction), while allowing the victim to file the lawsuit anonymously under a "Jane Doe / John Doe" pseudonym.
- Federal Criminal Cyberstalking (18 U.S.C. § 2261A) & TAKE IT DOWN Act / Deepfake Laws: Prosecutes interstate harassment and non-consensual explicit deepfakes.
- United Kingdom (Online Safety Act 2023 & Sexual Offences Act): Under the Online Safety Act 2023, sharing or threatening to share an intimate photograph or film (including AI-generated or altered intimate deepfakes) without consent is a strict criminal offense. Prosecutors no longer have to prove the perpetrator intended to cause distress, making convictions far easier.
- Canada (Criminal Code Section 162.1): Distributing an intimate image without the consent of the person depicted carries up to 5 years in federal prison, and courts can issue an immediate Section 164.1 warrant of seizure / takedown order.
- Australia (Online Safety Act 2021): Sharing or threatening to share intimate images (real or deepfake) carries heavy federal civil penalties (up to 500 penalty units) and criminal imprisonment, and the eSafety Commissioner issues legally binding 24-hour removal notices to platforms worldwide.
- European Union (EU Directive 2024/1385 on Combating Violence Against Women & Digital Services Act): Criminalizes non-consensual sharing of intimate or manipulated material across all EU member states and mandates rapid notice-and-takedown mechanisms.
Perguntas frequentes¶
Does StopNCII.org work if the photo was already uploaded to Reddit, Instagram, or X before I created the hash?¶
Yes. Participating platforms (including Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, OnlyFans, and Pornhub) scan both newly uploaded media and existing media already sitting on their servers against the `StopNCII.org` hash database. However, if you already know the exact URL where the image is currently live on a platform or appearing in Google Search, you should do both: generate the hash at `StopNCII.org` (to block all future re-uploads across 50+ networks) and submit the specific live URL through that platform's priority NCII removal form and Google's Explicit Personal Images removal form so the existing page is taken down within hours.
Can I still use a DMCA Copyright Takedown Notice if my ex-partner is the one who held the phone and took the photo of me?¶
No, you must only submit a DMCA copyright notice (which requires a statement under penalty of perjury that you are the copyright owner) when you are the person who actually took the photo or recorded the video yourself (such as a mirror selfie, timer photo, or webcam recording you captured). If your ex-partner or another person held the camera and took the photo, they technically hold the initial copyright authorship, so a DMCA notice is not the right tool; instead, use the platform's Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (NCII) policy removal form, `StopNCII.org` hash blocking, Google Search's Explicit Personal Images removal portal, and state/federal NCII criminal and civil laws.
What if someone created a fake nude photo or video of me using an AI "nudify" or face-swap app from my normal vacation photos?¶
Every major social media platform (Meta, X, TikTok, Reddit, Discord), Google Search, Bing Search, and `StopNCII.org` now treat photorealistic AI-generated sexually explicit deepfakes ("involuntary synthetic intimate imagery") under the exact same emergency takedown policies as real leaked photographs. When submitting a removal request to Google Search or a social platform, select the Non-Consensual Explicit Personal Images form and check the box indicating the image is synthetic or AI-generated; Google and platforms will purge and delist the fake images without requiring you to prove whether the body is real.
Should I send a Cease and Desist letter to the person who leaked my intimate photos?¶
Do not send a personal message or amateur Cease and Desist text to the perpetrator yourself before speaking with the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI) helpline (`1-844-878-2274`), the Revenge Porn Helpline, or a qualified attorney. Alerting a vindictive ex-partner before you have captured forensic screenshots, preserved server logs via police subpoena, and registered your hashes on `StopNCII.org` often prompts the perpetrator to delete their main account while anonymously dumping the entire folder onto offshore sites. Capture your evidence, hash the files, and get the URLs taken down through the platforms and Google first.
