|---|---|---|
| 1. Huwag HINDI tanggalin ang eSIM. 2. I-off ang anumang VPN o iCloud Private Relay. 3.
| 1. Suriin ang Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock (dapat sabihin "No SIM restrictions"). 2.
| 1. Tawagan ang New Carrier Porting Department (PAC). 2.
- Have the Fraud Department reclaim your number onto your physical device 32-digit EID (or visit a corporate carrier retail store in person with two forms of government photo ID).
- Immediately execute the full containment steps in our Gabay sa emergency sa pagpapalit ng SIM and our gabay sa paglabag sa bank account.
Step 2: How to fix a failed or stuck eSIM activation (iPhone and Android)¶
When transferring service to a new iPhone (especially US iPhone 14, 15, 16, and newer models that have no physical SIM card tray) or a new Android flagship (Samsung Galaxy S24/S25, Google Pixel 8/9), eSIM activations fail for five predictable technical reasons. Walk through this checklist in exact order:
1. Disable VPNs, Ad-Block DNS, and Firewall Profiles on Wi-Fi¶
When your phone downloads an eSIM profile from a carrier SM-DP+ server (such as cust-001-v4-prod-atl2.gdsb.net), the phone Local Profile Assistant must verify the carrier regional IP and TLS certificate:
- Open your VPN app (NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Mullvad, Tailscale, Cloudflare WARP, or corporate Cisco AnyConnect / GlobalProtect) and disconnect it completely (also turn off "Connect on Demand" inside Settings > VPN on iOS).
- If you use NextDNS, AdGuard DNS, or a home Pi-hole on your router, temporarily switch your phone to a clean Wi-Fi hotspot or standard DNS (1.1.1.1 o 8.8.8.8), as ad-blocking DNS lists occasionally block carrier telemetry domains required during eSIM activation.
2. Verify whether the carrier switch (HSS) has already cut off the old phone¶
Look at your old phone right now: - Scenario A: Your old phone STILL has full signal bars and can make a phone call: This means the carrier core network has not yet processed the transfer. Your old SIM is still 100 percent active. On the new phone, cancel the stuck setup screen, update the new phone to the latest iOS or Android version over Wi-Fi first, and then trigger the transfer directly via your carrier official mobile app (My Verizon, T-Life / T-Mobile, myAT&T, My Vodafone, My EE) installed on the new phone rather than relying on the OS-level Bluetooth "Quick Transfer" wizard. - Scenario B: Your old phone just dropped to "SOS Only", AND your new phone is stuck on "Activating...": This means the carrier HSS already switched your phone number to your new phone's EID, and the new phone just missed the final network registration handshake. 1. Wait 10 minutes on strong Wi-Fi. 2. Turn Airplane Mode ON on the new phone, wait 30 seconds, and turn Airplane Mode OFF. 3. Perform a Force Restart on the new phone (on iPhone: quickly press and release Volume Up, quickly press and release Volume Down, then press and hold the Side Button until the Apple logo appears). In over 70 percent of cases, the new phone registers on 5G/LTE immediately upon rebooting.
3. Check for a Carrier Subsidy Lock ("SIM Locked")¶
If you see "Cellular Plan Cannot Be Added: This eSIM is from a carrier that is not supported on this iPhone", check your device lock status: - On iPhone: Go to Settings > General > About and scroll down to Carrier Lock. - If it says "No SIM restrictions", your phone is fully unlocked and can accept any carrier or travel eSIM in the world. - If it says "SIM locked", the handset is cryptographically locked via Apple's activation server (GSX) to the original carrier selling the phone on an installment plan. You must either pay off the installment balance or request a temporary/permanent IMEI Unlock from the original carrier before any other carrier's eSIM will install.
4. Force Direct OTA Push Provisioning Using Your 32-Digit EID at IMEI2¶
If "eSIM Quick Transfer" fails repeatedly and scanning a QR code says "Code Expired", stop trying self-service wizards and give a carrier agent (via online chat on Wi-Fi or from a second phone) two exact numbers from your new phone (Settings > General > About on iOS, or dial *#06# on any phone dialer to pull up the barcode screen):
1. Your 15-digit Digital SIM IMEI (listed as IMEI 2 or Available SIM IMEI).
2. Your 32-digit EID (89...).
Say to the agent: "My eSIM download failed and consumed the single-use SM-DP+ token. Please generate a brand-new eSIM ICCID on my line and push it Over-The-Air directly to my 32-digit EID." Within 60 seconds of the agent saving the EID in their system, a push notification banner reading "Carrier Cellular Plan Ready to Be Installed" will pop up automatically on your Wi-Fi-connected phone screen without needing any QR code at all.
Step 3: How to unfreeze a stuck mobile number port (LNP Resolution Protocol)¶
When you switch carriers and request to keep your phone number, automated Local Number Portability (LNP) transfers between mobile networks normally finish in 5 to 30 minutes (or 1 business day in countries using PAC codes like the UK). If your number transfer is stuck for more than 2 to 4 hours, or if you have "Split Service" (outbound calls work, but incoming calls ring your old phone and SMS 2FA texts vanish), your port order is sitting in an NPAC Conflict / Resolution Required state.
The 5 hidden reasons number ports freeze (and how to clear them in 10 minutes)¶
Call your new (gaining) carrier's direct "Porting and Activations Center" (PAC) rather than general billing support and check these five items:
- You left "Number Lock / Port Freeze" turned ON at the old carrier:
- Carriers offer Number Transfer Lock (Verizon Number Lock, AT&T Wireless Account Lock, T-Mobile Port Out Protection) to stop SIM swaps. If active when you submitted your port request, the old carrier rejected the transfer automatically.
- Fix: Turn OFF Number Lock in your old carrier's app, wait 5 minutes, and ask the new carrier's Porting Department to resubmit the request.
- You supplied your 4-digit Account Billing PIN instead of a "Number Transfer PIN":
- In the United States, FCC rules require a temporary 6-digit Number Transfer PIN (not your everyday 4-digit billing PIN) to authorize a port-out:
- Verizon: Dial
#PORT(#7678) or go to My Verizon > Account Settings > Number Transfer PIN. - AT&T: Dial
*PORT(*7678) or go to myAT&T > Profile > People & Permissions > Transfer phone number. - T-Mobile: Open the T-Life app -> Account > Profile Settings > Line Settings > Request a Transfer PIN.
- United Kingdom (EE, Vodafone, O2, Three): Text
PACsa65075from your old SIM to receive your 9-character Porting Authorization Code within 60 seconds. - Canada (Rogers, Bell, Telus): Keep your old SIM inserted until you reply
YESwithin 90 minutes to the mandatory CRTC port-out confirmation SMS.
- Verizon: Dial
- Billing ZIP/Postal Code or Account Number Mismatch:
- The NPAC clearinghouse compares the Account Number, Transfer PIN, and Billing ZIP Code character-by-character. Check the top-right corner of a PDF monthly bill from your old carrier for the exact Account Number and ZIP code.
- Landline, VoIP, or Google Voice / NumberBarn Ports Take 2 to 7 Business Days:
- Porting from a VoIP provider (Google Voice, Twilio, NumberBarn) or a landline / cable provider is classified as a Wireline-to-Wireless LNP order, which schedules a Firm Order Commitment (FOC) completion date 2 to 5 business days out.
- Rebroadcasting the LRN when SMS 2FA Short Codes Fail After Porting:
- If calls work both ways after porting, but bank 2FA SMS short codes (5-digit or 6-digit numbers) fail to arrive after 12 hours, ask the new carrier's Tier 2 Technical Support to "refresh/rebroadcast my LRN in NPAC and reprovision SMS short-code features."
Step 4: Restoring lost cellular service or travel eSIM data when stranded abroad¶
If you land abroad and neither your home carrier roaming plan nor your prepaid travel eSIM (Airalo, Holafly, Nomad, Saily, Ubigi) has signal, execute these five fixes immediately (Steps 1 through 4 work completely offline):
1. Turn ON "Data Roaming" on the active eSIM line¶
Both iOS and Android ship with Data Roaming turned OFF on every newly installed eSIM. - iPhone: Go to Settings > Cellular > [Tap your Travel eSIM] -> Toggle Data Roaming to ON. Verify Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data is set to the Travel eSIM and turn OFF "Allow Cellular Data Switching". - Android: Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > [Select eSIM] -> Toggle Roaming to ON.
2. Switch "Network Selection" from Automatic to Manual (Tower Forcing)¶
Often, your phone automatically latches onto the strongest airport tower (such as Vodafone) even though your travel eSIM only has a roaming contract with Orange or T-Mobile.
1. Open Settings > Cellular > [Your Active SIM/eSIM] > Network Selection and toggle Automatic to OFF.
2. Wait 30 to 90 seconds for the scan to list every local carrier.
3. Tap each carrier on the list one by one, wait 20 seconds, and check if LTE o 5G appears in the status bar.
3. Force LTE / 4G Instead of 5G Auto / 5G Standalone Abroad¶
Many international roaming agreements cover 4G LTE across all partner towers while 5G Standalone (5G SA) roaming handshakes fail. Switch Settings > Cellular > [Your SIM/eSIM] > Voice & Data from 5G Auto sa LTE (o 4G).
4. Manually enter the Travel eSIM APN (Access Point Name)¶
Open your travel eSIM app offline to check the required APN name (for example, globaldata, wbdata, internet, o three.co.uk), then enter it under Settings > Cellular > [Travel eSIM] > Cellular Data Network on iOS or Access Point Names on Android.
- I-on ON Wi-Fi Calling (Mga Setting > Cellular > [Home Line] > Wi-Fi Calling).
- Pumunta sa Settings > Cellular > [Home Line] at i-toggle ang Data Roaming to OFF.
If I accidentally deleted my eSIM on my iPhone or Android while troubleshooting, can I just scan the original QR code again to reinstall it?
Almost never. By GSMA security design, an eSIM QR code points to a single-use activation token on the carrier SM-DP+ server. Once that profile has been downloaded and bound to your phone 32-digit EID once, the server marks the token as "Downloaded / Consumed" so no one else can photograph your QR code and clone your SIM. If you delete an active eSIM profile from your phone settings, you must contact your mobile carrier (or open your travel eSIM provider app) and ask them to generate and issue a brand-new replacement eSIM profile.
Why can I make phone calls after porting my number to a new carrier, but incoming calls still ring my old phone and 2FA texts do not arrive?
This condition is known in telecommunications as "Split Service" or a mixed port state. The moment your new carrier creates your line, their local switch lets you make outbound calls showing your phone number as Caller ID. However, incoming calls and SMS texts from the rest of the world only route to your new phone after the central national clearinghouse (NPAC) finishes validating your old carrier account number and Number Transfer PIN and broadcasts the updated Location Routing Number (LRN) across all networks. If Split Service lasts longer than 4 hours, your port is almost certainly paused due to an incorrect PIN, ZIP code, or active Port Freeze; call the new carrier Porting Department (PAC) immediately.
How can I call 911, 112, or 999 if my phone screen says "SOS Only" or "No Service" and my eSIM is broken?
Every cellular handset sold worldwide is engineered under mandatory 3GPP and FCC/ETSI regulations to prioritize emergency calls above all subscriber billing and SIM rules. When your phone says "SOS Only" or "Emergency Calls Only," it means your home carrier has not authenticated your SIM, but your phone antenna is actively locked onto at least one competing carrier cellular tower nearby. Dialing 911, 112, or 999 forces the nearest tower from any carrier to connect your emergency call immediately, even if your phone has zero active eSIMs installed. If there are zero cellular towers of any kind in range (such as in a wilderness canyon), iPhone 14 and newer models and modern flagship Android phones automatically offer "Emergency Text via Satellite" when you dial 911/112/999.
What happens to my eSIMs if I have to "Erase All Content and Settings" (Factory Reset) my phone?
Both iOS and Android display a critical prompt during a factory reset asking whether you want to **"Keep eSIMs and Erase Data"** or **"Delete eSIMs and Erase Data"**. Unless you are selling, trading in, or permanently giving away the phone, **always choose "Keep eSIMs and Erase Data"**. Because eSIM profiles are stored on a dedicated, isolated hardware security chip (the eUICC) separate from your operating system storage, keeping the eSIM allows your phone to wipe and reinstall iOS or Android from scratch while waking back up on the setup screen with full 5G/LTE cellular service still intact.
