Don qutisi va qishloq xo'jaligi PTO mashinalarining avariyalari

Favqulodda yordam raqamlari mamlakatga qarab farq qiladi. Bu sahifada 911, AQSh va Kanada uchun raqam ishlatiladi. Ko'pgina boshqa mamlakatlar 112, 999 yoki boshqa raqamdan foydalanadilar. Mamlakatingiz uchun raqamni toping.

Agricultural grain storage facilities, forage silos, and tractor power take-off (PTO) drivelines rank among the most lethal occupational environments in the world. Because flowing corn, wheat, soybeans, and sorghum behave like a high-density fluid while unloading augers are running, an adult stepping onto moving grain is pulled waist-deep in less than 5 seconds and completely submerged in under 20 seconds. Once grain reaches chest height, the lateral and vertical friction of the kernels creates an extraction resistance exceeding 400 to 700 kilograms (900 to 1,500 pounds) of force, making it physically impossible to pull a victim out with a rope while crushing their ribcage tighter with every exhalation.

Equally unforgiving are unguarded tractor power take-off (PTO) stub shafts spinning at 540 or 1,000 revolutions per minute (RPM) and confined-space forage silos filled with toxic nitrogen dioxide (\(NO_2\)) gas or oxygen-displacing carbon dioxide (\(CO_2\)). At 540 RPM, a spinning PTO shaft wraps 2.1 meters (7 feet) of a worker's jacket or bootlace around the steel driveline in a single second, causing instantaneous traumatic amputations, scalping, or spinal fractures. Knowing how to shut down unloading augers and turn on aeration fans immediately, why rescuers must never jump into a grain bin without a lifeline or pull a buried victim by the arms, how to disengage a diesel tractor engine during a PTO entanglement, and how to avoid multiple-fatality silo gas chain reactions saves lives on the farm.

Buni hozir qiling

  1. Shut off the grain unloading auger immediately and turn ON the bin aeration fan if someone is trapped in grain. Never attempt to pull a buried person out with a rope; cutting power to the bottom auger stops the downward pull instantly, while switching on the aeration fan (with the heater off) blows fresh air up through the kernels so a submerged victim can breathe.
  2. Never jump into a grain bin or enter a smoking/gassing silo without a tied-off harness and breathing apparatus. Over half of all grain bin and silo fatalities are would-be rescuers who rush in to save a family member or coworker and are immediately engulfed by collapsing grain walls or knocked unconscious in seconds by invisible silo gas.
  3. Shut off the tractor engine or disengage the PTO clutch before touching anyone entangled in a driveline. Pull the red diesel fuel shutoff knob, turn the ignition key to off, or move the PTO engagement lever to neutral, and chock the tractor wheels; never try to grab or pull a victim away while the shaft is still turning.
  4. Leave torn, tightly wrapped clothing on the PTO shaft and apply a tourniquet to severed limbs immediately. Cut the victim free from the twisted fabric using heavy shears or a utility knife without unwinding the shaft backward if doing so moves fractured bones, and apply a commercial tourniquet 5 to 7 centimeters (2 to 3 inches) above any traumatic amputation.
  5. Do not pull a victim out of an auger flighting, corn head, or baler rollers by reversing the machine's power. Reversing powered agricultural rollers or augers causes devastating secondary crushing and tearing; lock out the tractor ignition and use hydraulic spreaders, jacks, or wrenches to disassemble the housing around the limb.
  6. Call emergency services immediately and specify "grain bin rescue tube" or "heavy machinery extrication" on the call. Rural volunteer fire departments need early notice to dispatch specialized grain rescue cofferdam tubes, vacuum grain trucks, and air ambulances; call your local emergency number (911 in the United States and Canada, 112 across the European Union, 999 in the United Kingdom) or check favqulodda raqamlar.

Physics of grain bin entrapment and why you cannot pull a victim out

To understand why grain entrapment is fatal within seconds, you must understand the fluid mechanics and granular friction of stored crops. When an unloading auger at the bottom center of a grain bin is turned on, grain does not drop down evenly across the bin floor like water draining from a bathtub. Instead, grain flows from the top center surface straight down through a central vertical core (funnel flow) to the bottom sump gate at velocities of 1.5 to 3 meters (5 to 10 feet) per minute.

Entrapment Scenario Physical Mechanism Time to Immobilization Required Extrication Force
Flowing Grain Funnel (Unloading Auger Running) Central vertical column of grain drops straight down into the bottom discharge sump, acting like a high-speed downward conveyor belt 3 to 5 seconds to knee/waist depth (point of no self-escape); 15 to 22 seconds to full burial Over 1,500 Newtons (325 lbf) at waist depth; over 4,000 Newtons (900 lbf) at chest depth; over 6,500 Newtons (1,500 lbf) when submerged
Crust Bridge Collapse (Hollow Cavity Underneath) Moldy or high-moisture surface grain cakes into a hard 10-to-30-cm (4-to-12-inch) crust while previous unloading has emptied a massive hollow cavern underneath Instantaneous free-fall when a worker walks out onto the crust and it shears away, followed by an avalanche of surrounding walls Victim is instantly buried 1 to 3 meters (3 to 10 feet) deep at the bottom of the cone; requires cofferdam tube or exterior bin-wall V-cutting
Vertical Grain Wall Avalanche Buzilgan don axlat qutisi ichida balandligi 6 metr (20 fut) gacha bo'lgan vertikal jar ustunida turibdi, ishchi esa trubka yoki belkurak bilan poydevorni teshadi. 1 dan 2 soniyagacha: Pastki kesilgan vertikal devor qirqib tashlanadi va ishchini tonnalab don tagiga ko'mib tashlaydi. Haddan tashqari ezish va asfiksiya og'irligi; qutqaruvchilarga ikkilamchi devorning qulashi xavfi yuqori

Nima uchun tuzoqqa tushgan qurbonni arqon bilan tortib olish halokatli

Biror kishi beligacha yoki ko'kragiga ko'milgan bo'lsa, yaxshi niyatli hamkasblar ko'pincha unga traktor yoki ko'targichga bog'langan tasma yoki arqonni tashlab, uni to'g'ri tortib olishga harakat qilishadi. Hech qachon dafn qilingan qurbonni dondan tortib olishga urinmang.

  1. Granulyar qulflash va ishqalanish: Quruq donning og'irligi har bir kubometr uchun taxminan 750 kilogrammni tashkil qiladi (kub futiga 47 funt yoki makkajo'xori va bug'doy uchun 56-60 funt). Ko'milgan tanaga yuqoriga qarab taranglik qo'llanilganda, uning atrofidagi yadrolar jabrlanuvchining etiklari, tizzalari, sonlari va kiyimlariga qarshi pastga yo'naltirilgan yoylarda birlashtiriladi.
  2. O'murtqa va bo'g'imlarning ajralishi: Belgacha bo'lgan katta yoshli odamni dondan tortib olish uchun 400 kilogrammdan (900 funt) ortiq vertikal kuch kerak bo'lsa, butunlay ko'milgan kattalar uchun 680 kilogrammdan (1500 funt) ortiq kuch kerak bo'ladi. Odamning orqa miya va elka bo'g'imlari don ishqalanishini engish uchun zarur bo'lgan kuchdan ancha past bo'lgan kuchlarda halokatli dislokatsiya, nervlarning ajralishi va ajralishiga duchor bo'ladi.
  3. Restriktiv asfiksiya: Har safar odam ko‘kragiga chuqurroq ko‘milganida nafas chiqarganda, uning qovurg‘alari 2-3 santimetr (1 dyuym) ga qisqaradi va atrofdagi suyuqlikka o‘xshash don shu zahotiyoq ichkariga qarab siljiydi. Jabrlanuvchi nafas olishga harakat qilganda, qulflangan donni diafragma mushaklari tomonidan tashqariga qaytarib bo'lmaydi. Bir necha daqiqada jabrlanuvchi ko'krak qafasining mexanik siqilishidan (travmatik asfiksiya) bo'g'ilib qoladi, hatto boshi don yuzasidan to'liq yuqorida bo'lsa ham.

Danger

Tushirish shnegi ishlayotgan paytda hech kimga don qutisi ichida yurishiga yo'l qo'ymang va hech qachon ko'prikli yoki qobig'i bo'lgan donni ichidan sindirish uchun idishga kirmang. Agar axlat qutisi ichida don bo'lsa-da, pastki shnegidan don oqib chiqmay qolsa, ichi bo'sh ko'prik hosil bo'ladi; bog'langan jabduq taqqan holda, uzun shisha tolali ustun yordamida faqat tashqi tom lyukidan pastga tushiring.

Don qutisi tiqilib qolishi uchun bosqichma-bosqich favqulodda choralar

Agar siz don qutisi, gravitatsion vagon yoki yassi saqlash binosida qamalgan yoki ko'milgan odamni aniqlasangiz, ushbu amallarni aniq ketma-ketlikda bajaring.

1. Agar siz oqayotgan donga cho'kayotgan odam bo'lsangiz (o'z-o'zidan omon qolish)

Agar siz axlat qutisi ichida bo'lsangiz va don to'satdan oyoqlaringiz ostidan o'tib ketsa:

  1. Axlat qutisining markazida yurishga yoki yuqoriga ko‘tarilishga urinmang: Axlat qutisining markazi yuqori tezlikdagi vertikal assimilyatsiya qiluvchi yadrodir. Darhol tashqi gofrirovka qilingan po'lat idish devori tomon harakatlaning, u erda markaziy voronka kengayguncha don harakatsiz qoladi.
  2. **Agar siz markaziy konusga tortilgan bo'lsangiz va devorga etib bora olmasangiz: ** Oyoqlaringiz huni ichiga vertikal ravishda cho'kib ketgunga qadar sirt maydonini (qor tufli effekti) yoyish uchun darhol orqangizga yoki oshqozoningizga tekis tushing.
  3. Agar sizni to‘liq don yuzasi ostiga tortayotgan bo‘lsangiz: Chuqur nafas oling, qo‘llaringizni ko‘kragingizga bog‘lab, qovurg‘a qafasining kengayishi uchun va ikkala qo‘lingizni burun va og‘zingizga mahkam bog‘lab qo‘ying (yoki ko‘ylak yoki qalpoq yoqasidan yuzingizga torting). Quruq makkajo'xori yoki bug'doy yadrolari orasidagi taxminan 35-40 foiz havo bo'shlig'idan iborat; Qo'llaringizni og'zingizga qo'yib qo'ysangiz, alohida yadrolarning nafas trubkasiga so'rilishini oldini oladi (bronxial aspiratsiya), siz qutqaruvchilar qutini kesib olayotgan paytda yadrolar orasiga qo'yilgan oraliq havodan nafas olishingiz mumkin.

2. Axlat qutisidan tashqarida bo'lganlar uchun darhol harakatlar

  1. Barcha tushirish shneklari, konveyerlar va tortish shlyuzlarini zudlik bilan o'chiring: Asosiy elektr o'chirish dastagini axlat qutisi tagiga tashlang yoki supurish shnegini boshqarayotgan traktor PTO ni o'chiring. Don oqimini to'xtatish bir zumda pastga cho'kishni to'xtatadi.
  2. Don qutisi shamollatuvchi/quritish ventilyatorini YOQING (briller/isitgich o‘chirilgan holda): Har bir soniya issiq, chang bosgan don ichida bo‘g‘ilib qolgan dafn etilgan qurbon uchun hisoblanadi. Pastki aeratsiya fanini yoqish teshilgan axlat qutisi va yadrolar orasidagi bo'shliqlar orqali sovuq, toza tashqi havoni yuqoriga ko'tarishga majbur qiladi, qurbonni sovutadi va yuzidagi karbonat angidridni tozalaydi. Propan yoki tabiiy gaz quritish moslamasi o'chirilganligini tasdiqlang, shunda siz haddan tashqari qizib ketgan havoni axlat qutisiga puflamaysiz.
  3. Zudlik bilan 911, 112 yoki 999 raqamlariga qo‘ng‘iroq qiling: Aniq ayting: “Bizda bir kishi [manzil]da don qutisiga qamalib qolibdi, taxminiy quti hajmi [X] bushel/tonna, bizga yong‘in departamenti donni qutqarish trubkasi va cheklangan koinot jamoasi kerak”.
  4. Shne kalitlarini blokirovka qiling va belgilang: Shnekning elektr to'xtatuvchisiga qulf qo'ying yoki odamni bevosita boshqaruv paneli oldiga qo'ying, shunda hech bir kelgan ishchi tasodifan shnekni qayta yoqmasin.
  5. Jabrlanuvchining boshi ko'rinsa, tinchlantiring va don qiyaliklarini barqarorlashtiring:
  6. Jabrlanuvchiga xotirjam bo'lishni, yuqori ko'kragi bilan sekin nafas olishni va kurashmaslikni buyuring, chunki burishish ularni chuqurroq cho'ktirishga olib keladi va atrofdagi don yonbag'irlari boshi ustidan pastga siljiydi.
  7. Agar jabrlanuvchi boshi tepasida tik devorlari bo'lgan teskari konusning o'rtasiga cho'kib ketgan bo'lsa, hech qachon o'sha don yonbag'iridan pastga tushmang, bu ularning yuzini ko'mib tashlaydigan ko'chkiga sabab bo'ladi.
  8. Qutqaruvchi faqat bo'shashmasdan yuqoridagi qutqaruv chizig'iga mahkamlangan to'liq tana jabduqlarini kiygan bo'lsa va og'irlikni taqsimlash uchun don yuzasi bo'ylab yotqizilgan keng fanera choyshablari yoki gorizontal tom zinapoyasida turgan bo'lsa, ular jabrlanuvchiga chang niqobi, himoya ko'zoynagi yoki kislorod niqobini o'tkazishi kerak.

3. Cofferdam qutqarish trubkasi va boshqalar don qutisi devorlarini kesish

Yong'in bo'linmalari jabrlanuvchining boshi don ustida ko'rinib turishiga qarab, don tuzog'i qurbonini olib tashlash uchun ikkita asosiy muhandislik usulidan foydalanadi:

  • Usul A: Jabrlanuvchi qisman dafn etilgan (boshi ko‘rinib turibdi) -> Donni qutqarish trubkasini o‘rnatish (Kofferdam):
  • Fanera ishlaydigan platformalarda turgan qutqaruvchilar bir-biriga bog'langan kavisli alyuminiy yoki yuqori zichlikdagi polietilen panellarni jabrlanuvchini to'liq o'rab turgan aylana bo'ylab vertikal ravishda pastga surishadi.
  • Tsilindr jabrlanuvchi atrofida qulflangandan so'ng, qutqaruvchilar donni faqat trubaning ichki qismidan olib tashlash uchun ko'chma mini-shnekli (simsiz burg'u bilan ishlaydi), yuqori quvvatli vakuumli yuk mashinasi yoki kofe qutilari/chelaklaridan foydalanadilar.
  • Naycha ichidagi don olib tashlangandan so'ng, trubka jabrlanuvchining ko'kragi va oyoqlaridagi bosim bartaraf etilgunga qadar chuqurroq suriladi va ular silindr ichiga joylashtirilgan zinapoyaga ko'tarilishlari mumkin.
  • B usuli: Jabrlanuvchi butunlay suv ostida (boshi don ostida) -> Po'lat quti devorlarini kesib oling:
  • Jabrlanuvchi to'liq metrlar ostida ko'milgan va ko'rinmasa, tepadan qazish juda uzoq davom etadi. Buning o'rniga, o't o'chiruvchilar qutining tashqi gofrirovka qilingan po'lat devorlarini metall kesish pichoqlari yoki o'zaro harakatlanuvchi arralar bilan qutqaruvchi dumaloq arralar yordamida kesib tashlashadi (hech qachon portlovchi don changini yoqib yuboradigan kislorod-atsetilen mash'alalari).
  • Axir devorlarni kesish uchun muhim muhandislik qoidasi: Hech qachon don idishining bir tomonida bitta katta teshikni kesmang. Minglab tonna donni bitta yon teshikdan to'kib tashlash katta eksentrik lateral yukni hosil qiladi, bu po'lat quti devorlarini qisadi va butun qutining tomini jabrlanuvchi va qutqaruvchilarga tortadi.
  • Buning o'rniga qutqaruvchilar **4 dan 6 gacha nosimmetrik V shaklidagi yoki uchburchakli relyef qopqoqchalarini kesib oldilar, ular axlat qutisining butun 360 gradus atrofi bo'ylab bir tekisda joylashgan (soat 12, 2, 4, 6, 8 va 10 pozitsiyalarida), ko'milgan yerning taxminiy balandligidan pastroqda joylashgan bo'lib, ular ko'milgan tuproq atrofidan chiqib ketishiga imkon beradi. jabrlanuvchi ochilmaguncha.

4. Don qutisi chiqarilgandan keyin tibbiy yordam ko'rsatish

Dondan ozod bo'lgandan so'ng, jabrlanuvchi darhol travma va jiddiy tibbiy yordamni talab qiladi:

  • **Havo yo'llarini tozalash: ** Og'iz va tomoqni makkajo'xori yadrolari, soya po'stlog'i va zich organik chang bor-yo'qligini tekshiring. Havo yo'llarini so'rib oling va yuqori oqimli namlangan kislorodni yuboring. Jabrlanuvchi dastlab hushyor bo'lib ko'rinsa ham, ingalyatsiya qilingan organik don changlari va qo'ziqorin sporalari kechiktirilgan o'tkir kimyoviy pnevmonitga olib kelishi mumkin. astmaga o'xshash bronxospazm, yoki Dehqonning o'pkasi soatlardan keyin.
  • Prevent post-extrication collapse (crush/compartment syndrome and orthostatic shock): For the duration of the entrapment, the surrounding grain acted like a giant anti-shock garment pressing blood out of the legs into the upper body. If you hoist a victim who has been buried for 30 to 90 minutes straight up vertically, blood pools instantaneously into their dilated leg veins while potassium and lactic acid flush into the heart, causing sudden cardiac arrest (rescue death). Keep the victim horizontal as soon as their legs are freed, start intravenous fluids before complete decompression if paramedics are inside the bin, and treat for gipotermiya yoki heat illness idish haroratiga bog'liq.

Silos gazi (\(NO_2\)) va goʻng chuquri (\(H_2S\)) cheklangan joydagi favqulodda vaziyatlar

Yangi tug'ralgan yashil makkajo'xori, jo'xori, beda yoki jo'xori bilan to'ldirilgan minora siloslari, shuningdek, yer osti chorva go'ngi chuqurlari ko'rinmas, halokatli gazlarni hosil qiladi, bu esa dehqonlar va qutqaruvchilarning butun oilalarini bir necha daqiqada o'ldiradi.

Confined Space Gas Chemical Formula and Physical Properties Peak Danger Window Mechanism of Toxicity and Symptoms
Nitrogen Dioxide (Silo Gas) \(NO_2\): Heavier than air (specific gravity 1.58); forms a yellowish-brown or reddish haze with a pungent, bleach-like odor; settles in silo chutes and low feed rooms First 12 hours to 3 weeks after filling a tower silo with chopped green silage (peaks at 24 to 72 hours) Reacts with moisture in the lungs to form corrosive nitric acid (\(HNO_3\)); burns alveoli, causing coughing, chest tightness, and delayed fatal pulmonary edema 4 to 30 hours after exposure
Carbon Dioxide (Fermentation Gas) \(CO_2\): Colorless, odorless, heavier than air (specific gravity 1.52); forms a deep invisible pool on top of silage or grain 12 hours to several weeks after ensiling green forage, or inside sealed high-moisture grain bins and fermentation vats Simple asphyxiant: Displaces oxygen (\(O_2\)) below 10 percent; causes rapid gasping, dizziness, loss of consciousness within 30 to 60 seconds, and hypoxic death
Hydrogen Sulfide (Manure Pit Sewer Gas) \(H_2S\): Colorless, heavier than air (specific gravity 1.19); smells like rotten eggs at low levels, but paralyzes the sense of smell instantly above 100 ppm Immediately when agitating or pumping liquid swine or dairy manure pits Cellular asphyxiant: Blocks cytochrome c oxidase in mitochondria; above 500 to 1,000 ppm, one single breath ("knockdown") causes instant unconsciousness, respiratory arrest, and death
Methane \(CH_4\): Colorless, odorless, lighter than air (specific gravity 0.55); rises to the top of enclosed manure pit ceilings Continuous accumulation in unventilated covered manure tanks Explosive flammable gas (at 5 to 15 percent concentration in air) and simple asphyxiant at high concentrations

How to prevent and respond to silo gas emergencies

  1. Stay completely out of a newly filled tower silo for the first 2 to 3 weeks: The highest concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (\(NO_2\)) gas occur during the first 48 to 72 hours after chopping green forage (especially drought-stressed corn or heavily fertilized crops with high nitrate levels).
  2. Look and smell before approaching the silo chute or feed room: Because \(NO_2\) is 1.58 times heavier than air, it pours down the vertical silo ladder chute like invisible water and pools on the floor of the attached barn or feed room. Look for a yellowish-brown or reddish mist hovering near the floor, yellow staining on silage or concrete, a sharp bleach-like smell, or dead birds, flies, or rodents lying at the base of the chute.
  3. Run the silo forage blower for at least 30 minutes before entering (if entry is unavoidable after 3 weeks): Keep the silo room doors and top roof hatch open, turn on the tractor-powered forage blower to pump massive volumes of fresh air up the fill pipe, and keep the blower running the entire time anyone is inside while wearing a multi-gas monitor.
  4. Never enter a silo or manure pit to rescue a collapsed person without Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA): A paper dust mask or cartridge respirator provides zero protection against oxygen deficiency, \(CO_2\), or high-concentration \(NO_2\) / \(H_2S\). If you see someone lying unconscious inside a silo or manure pit, stay outside, turn on the mechanical blower or ventilation fans from the outside, open exterior barn doors, and call 911, 112, or 999 for fire department SCBA rescue.
  5. Seek mandatory 48-hour hospital observation for anyone who inhales silo gas: Even if a farmer coughs after breathing a whiff of yellowish silo gas and feels completely normal 20 minutes later, the nitric acid formed inside their lungs continues destroying capillary walls silently. 6 to 30 hours later, while asleep in bed, the victim's lungs can suddenly fill with fluid (acute flash pulmonary edema), causing fatal suffocation. Anyone exposed to silo gas must go to an emergency room immediately for corticosteroid therapy and observation.

Tractor PTO, auger, and baler entanglement emergencies

The power take-off (PTO) stub shaft at the rear of a tractor transfers raw engine horsepower to rotary mowers, grain augers, manure spreaders, round balers, and post-hole diggers.

  • 540 RPM shafts rotate 9 times every single second, wrapping 2.1 meters (7 feet) of clothing per second.
  • 1,000 RPM shafts rotate 16.6 times every single second, wrapping 4 meters (13 feet) of clothing per second.
  • Human reaction time to realize clothing has snagged and let go takes roughly 0.5 to 0.75 seconds. By the time your brain registers that a loose shoelace, hooded sweatshirt drawstring, frayed coverall cuff, or long hair has touched a spinning PTO shaft or universal joint knuckle, the shaft has already rotated 5 to 12 times and pulled your limb or body into the driveline.

Warning

Never step over a spinning PTO driveline or grain auger shaft to save a five-second walk around the tractor, and never reach across the rear of a tractor near the PTO stub to adjust the three-point hitch lever while the PTO is engaged. Even if the plastic tubular PTO master shield is in place, damaged bearings can allow the plastic shield to spin with the steel shaft, or a missing clevis pin guard can snag your pants leg instantly.

Step-by-step response to a PTO or machinery entanglement

  1. Shut down the tractor engine and PTO power immediately:
  2. PTO ulash dastagini/kalitini OFF (O'chirilgan) holatiga o'tkazish uchun traktor kabinasiga chiqing (qo'zg'alish chizig'idan xavfsiz tomondan) yoki boshqaruv elementlariga yetib oling va kontaktni o'chirish tugmachasini OFF holatiga burang.
  3. Eski mexanik dizel traktorlarda, kalitni burish faqat akkumulyatorning zaryadlanishini dizel yonilg'i quyish nasosini to'xtatmasdan to'xtatib qo'yadi, qizil mexanik Yoqilg'i o'chirish (to'xtatish) tugmachasini oxirigacha torting va dizel dvigatel to'xtab qolguncha ushlab turing yoki havo olish qismini kesib dvigatelni to'xtating.
  4. Traktor to'xtash tormozini o'rnating va traktor shinalari ostiga yog'och bloklar yoki toshlarni qo'ying, shunda mashina harakatlantiruvchi chiziqni aylana olmaydi.
  5. Avval jabrlanuvchining hayoti uchun xavfli arterial qon ketishini baholang:
  6. PTO entanglements frequently tear an arm or leg completely off at the shoulder, elbow, or knee, or cause catastrophic open fractures.
  7. Agar buzilgan yoki kesilgan a'zodan yorqin qizil qon tez oqib chiqsa yoki to'planib qolsa, jarohat joyidan 5-7 santimetr (2-3 dyuym) yuqoriga turniket (masalan, CAT yoki SOFTT-W) qo'ying (to'g'ridan-to'g'ri qo'l yoki sonning yuqori qismiga) va hech qachon bo'g'imga tegib ketmaguncha. bleeding stops completely. Note the exact time of application on the victim's forehead.
  8. Never put the machine in reverse to "unwind" a trapped person:
  9. If a person's arm, leg, or torso is wrapped around a PTO shaft, pulled into a grain auger tube, or wedged between round baler rollers or corn-picker snapping rolls, never start the tractor or reverse the PTO/hydraulics to back them out. Powered reversal inflicts massive additional crushing, shearing, and arterial tearing.
  10. How to free a victim wrapped tightly to a PTO shaft:
  11. Often, a victim's coverall, jacket, or heavy denim pants are wound so tightly around the steel shaft that the fabric acts like a steel band pinning their body against the driveline.
  12. Cut the clothing away from the victim's body using trauma shears or a curved seat-belt cutter hook, leaving the tightly wound roll of cloth attached to the shaft rather than trying to unwind the victim's broken body around the bar.
  13. If a limb is wedged inside the universal joint yoke or auger flighting, wait for fire department heavy rescue crews to cut the steel shaft with hydraulic cutters or plasma/reciprocating saws while cooling the metal with water, or use sockets and wrenches to unbolt the telescoping PTO shaft halves from the tractor stub shaft so the shaft section can be transported with the patient if impaled.
  14. Preserve any amputated hand, arm, foot, or fingers properly:
  15. Once the victim is stabilized and bleeding is controlled, search the immediate ground or machinery housing for the severed body part (only after verifying the machine is 100 percent locked out).
  16. Rinse loose dirt or chaff off the amputated part gently with sterile saline or clean bottled water (do not scrub).
  17. Wrap the severed part in sterile gauze moistened with saline, seal it inside a watertight plastic zip-top bag, and place that sealed bag inside a second container filled with crushed ice and water.
  18. Never place an amputated limb or finger directly onto bare ice or dry ice, and never submerge it directly in liquid water, as freezing destroys microvascular tissue and makes surgical replantation impossible. Send the cooled part in the same ambulance or helicopter with the patient.

Tip

Every farm family and agricultural crew should keep a trauma first aid kit containing at least two commercial windlass tourniquets, hemostatic gauze, pressure dressings, and trauma shears mounted inside every tractor cab and combine harvester, and take a hands-on Stop the Bleed and farm first aid course from the Red Cross, St John Ambulance, or your regional agricultural safety extension.

Tez-tez beriladigan savollar

If someone is trapped waist-deep in a grain bin and the auger is already turned off, why can't we just tie a rope around their chest and pull them out with a hoist?

Dry grain locks tightly around the contours of a buried person's boots, knees, and hips, creating immense frictional resistance. Research by agricultural engineering programs (such as Purdue University and the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety in the United States) shows that pulling a waist-deep adult straight up out of grain requires over 400 kilograms (900 pounds) of force, and pulling a chest-deep adult requires over 680 kilograms (1,500 pounds). Applying that much upward traction with a rope or winch will tighten around the chest to suffocate the victim or dislocate their spine and shoulder joints before their feet ever budge. Instead, rescuers must insert a grain rescue tube (cofferdam) around the victim and scoop the grain out from inside the tube.

Why should you turn ON the grain bin aeration fan when someone is trapped in grain?

When a person is buried chest-deep or completely submerged in grain, they rapidly consume the limited oxygen trapped in the tiny spaces between the kernels around their face while exhaling carbon dioxide, and the surrounding grain traps intense body heat and dust. Switching on the bin's bottom aeration fan (while making sure the drying burner/heater is turned OFF) forces cool, fresh outside air upward through the perforated bin floor and through the grain mass, providing breathable oxygen and cooling the victim until firefighters cut open the bin or deploy a rescue tube.

Can I wear a cartridge respirator or N95 dust mask to go inside a newly filled silo or manure pit to rescue someone?

No, never enter a newly filled forage silo or a manure pit wearing an N95 mask or a chemical cartridge respirator. Air-purifying masks only filter particles or small amounts of vapor from air that already contains normal oxygen; they do not supply oxygen. Inside a gassing silo or manure pit, carbon dioxide and methane displace breathable oxygen below survival levels, while nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$) and hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$) reach concentrations that overwhelm filter cartridges immediately. Only rescuers wearing a positive-pressure Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) with an independent compressed-air tank and a tied-off retrieval harness can safely enter.

Why do doctors insist on keeping a farmer in the hospital for 24 to 48 hours after breathing a small amount of yellowish silo gas, even if they feel fine?

Silo gas is nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$). When inhaled, nitrogen dioxide dissolves in the moist lining of the deep lung air sacs (alveoli) and converts into corrosive nitric acid. Often, the initial coughing and throat irritation subside within 15 minutes, tricking the farmer into going home. Over the next 6 to 30 hours, however, the chemical burn inside the lungs causes delayed, catastrophic fluid leakage (acute pulmonary edema) that can drown the patient in their own lung fluid in the middle of the night, and can cause permanent scarring called bronchiolitis obliterans if not treated early with hospital corticosteroids and oxygen.

How do I stop a diesel tractor engine during a PTO emergency if turning the ignition key to OFF does not stop the engine?

Unlike gasoline engines that require an electrical spark to run, many older and mechanical diesel farm tractors use compression ignition and a mechanical fuel injection pump that continues running even if the electrical ignition key is turned off or the battery cable is cut. To shut down a mechanical diesel tractor immediately, pull the red mechanical "Fuel Shutoff / Engine Stop" pull-knob on the dashboard all the way out and hold it until the flywheel stops turning, or move the hand throttle lever all the way past the idle detent into the fuel cut-off position, while simultaneously moving the PTO lever to the disengaged position.

What is the safest way to clear a plugged combine header, corn picker, or round baler in the field?

Before stepping out of the tractor or combine cab to inspect or clear a plugged header, auger, or baler intake, you must follow the mandatory agricultural Lockout rule: (1) Disengage the PTO or header drive clutch, (2) Lower raised hydraulic headers to the ground or engage the mechanical steel hydraulic cylinder safety lock stop, (3) Place the transmission in Park or Neutral and set the parking brake, (4) Shut off the engine completely and remove the ignition key into your pocket, and (5) Wait until all spinning flywheels, slip clutches, and shafts have come to a complete dead stop (which can take 15 to 30 seconds after engine shutdown) before touching the crop blockage with a wooden clearing stick.
