Wara riżultat ħażin tal-eżami jew test fallut: l-ewwel sigħat u l-passi li jmiss¶
In-numri tal-emerġenza jvarjaw skont il-pajjiż. Din il-paġna tuża 911, in-numru għall-Istati Uniti u l-Kanada. Ħafna pajjiżi oħra jużaw 112, 999, jew numru ieħor. Sib in-numru għal pajjiżek.
Riżultat ħażin jista 'jħossu li l-art waqa'. Inti tista 'tħoss xokk, mistħija, rabja, tnemnim jew għargħar ta' tiċrit, u moħħok jista 'jaqbeż għall-agħar konklużjonijiet dwar il-futur tiegħek. Dawn ir-reazzjonijiet huma normali, u ma jfissirx li ħajtek hija mħassra, minkejja li bħalissa tista’ tħossha hekk.
Din il-gwida hija għall-istudenti u l-ġenituri. Ikopri l-ewwel sigħat wara riżultat diżappuntanti, kif tikseb perspettiva, kif issir taf dwar appelli, reazzjonijiet u rotot oħra, kif titkellem mal-ġenituri u l-għalliema, u kif tgħid id-differenza bejn diżappunt normali u tħassib dwar is-saħħa mentali li jeħtieġ appoġġ. Jekk inti fil-periklu li tagħmel ħsara lilek innifsek, aqbeż għat-taqsima dwar meta tikseb l-għajnuna u uża l-kuntatti tal-kriżi minnufih.
Agħmel dan issa¶
- Passa u ħu nifs qabel ma tiddeċiedi xejn. Oqgħod xi mkien sigur u ħu nifsijiet bil-mod, daħħal għal erbgħa u 'l barra minn sitta sa tmienja. Tiħux deċiżjonijiet kbar fl-ewwel siegħa.
- Iċċekkja li inti sigur. Jekk għandek ħsibijiet li tagħmel ħsara lilek innifsek jew tħoss li ma tistax tlaħħaq, għid lil xi ħadd issa u ċempel in-numru ta' emerġenza lokali tiegħek (911 fl-Istati Uniti u l-Kanada, 112 madwar l-Unjoni Ewropea, 999 fir-Renju Unit) jew linja ta' kriżi. Il- numri ta' emerġenza paġna telenka kuntatti skond il-pajjiż.
- Għid lil persuna waħda li tafda. Ġenitur, ħabib, għalliem jew konsulent. S'issa m'għandekx bżonn li jkollok pjan, biss biex ma tkunx waħdek miegħu.
- Kul, ixrob l-ilma u tistrieħ. Sentimenti qawwija qed teżawrixxi, u l-ġuħ u l-għeja jagħmlu kollox iħossu agħar.
- Do not post, delete, quit or announce anything yet. Give yourself at least a day before big decisions about school, courses or your future.
- Ikteb il-fatti u l-mistoqsijiet. Innota r-riżultat tiegħek, l-iskadenzi u dak li trid issir taf. Il-passi li jmiss huma aktar faċli biex jiġu ppjanati ladarba l-ewwel mewġa tkun għaddiet.
The first hours: what is normal¶
Wara aħbar ħażina, il-ġisem jirreaġixxi kif jagħmel għal kwalunkwe theddida. Qalbek tista 'tiġri, l-istonku tiegħek jista' jitħawwad, inti tista 'tħossok sħun jew kiesaħ, tiċrit, numb jew rrabjata. Il-ħsibijiet jistgħu jiġru jew imorru vojta. Dawn is-sentimenti ġeneralment jilħqu l-ogħla livell fl-ewwel sigħat u jħaffu matul il-jiem, għalkemm jistgħu jiġu f'mewġiet.
Common reactions include:
- Shock or disbelief, such as "this cannot be right."
- Shame or embarrassment.
- Anger at yourself, the exam, the teacher or the system.
- Sadness and tears.
- Fear about parents, university places, jobs, money or the future.
- Tnemnim, jew sens ta’ xejn importanti.
- Ħtija dwar il-ħatt lin-nies.
- Serħan imħallat ma 'dwejjaq, jekk il-pressjoni hija fuq.
L-ebda wieħed minn dawn mhu sinjali ta’ dgħjufija. Huma sinjali li int jimpurtak. Li tħalli lilek innifsek tħosshom, mingħajr ma taġixxi fuq kull ħsieb, hija parti mill-irkupru.
X'għandek tagħmel fl-ewwel siegħa¶
- Sib post kwiet u sigur, jew oqgħod ma' xi ħadd kalm.
- Breathe slowly for a few minutes. The guide on ansjetà tat-test fil-jum tal-eżami describes breathing and grounding techniques that also work after bad news.
- Drink water, and eat something even if you do not feel hungry.
- Ibki jekk għandek bżonn. Tiċrit huwa rilaxx naturali.
- Pass barra għall-arja friska.
- Poġġi t-telefon tiegħek jekk il-midja soċjali jew iċ-chats tal-grupp jagħmluha agħar.
X'għandek tevita fl-ewwel jum¶
- Teħid ta’ deċiżjonijiet permanenti bħal tneħħija mill-iskola, tħassir ta’ kontijiet jew qtugħ ta’ ħbieb.
- Tixrob l-alkoħol jew tuża d-drogi biex tħawwad is-sensazzjoni. Jistgħu japprofondixxu burdata baxxa u jwasslu għal għażliet riskjużi.
- Toqgħod waħdu f'burdata mudlama għal sigħat.
- Qari kull kumment minn sħabi tal-klassi dwar ir-riżultati tagħhom.
- Tibgħat messaġġi rrabjati lill-għalliema jew lill-korpi tal-eżami. Tista 'tqajjem tħassib bil-kalma aktar tard.
- Tneħħi l-uġigħ tiegħek fuqek innifsek b'xi mod.
Tużax alkoħol, drogi jew imġieba riskjuża biex tlaħħaq
L-alkoħol, id-drogi, is-sewqan perikoluż u l-ħsara personali jistgħu jagħmlu ġurnata ħażina ferm agħar u jistgħu jikkawżaw ħsara dejjiema. Jekk tħoss il-ħeġġa li tweġġa’ lilek innifsek jew tieħu riskji, għid lil xi ħadd u ikkuntattja lil xi linja ta’ kriżi. Il-gwida fuq kriżi tas-saħħa mentali jispjega kif tgħin lilek innifsek jew lil persuna oħra.
Jkollna perspettiva¶
Huwa diffiċli li taħseb b'mod ċar meta l-emozzjonijiet huma għoljin, iżda ftit ideat jistgħu jgħinu ladarba tgħaddi l-ewwel mewġa. Dan mhux dwar sfurzar ħsieb pożittiv. Huwa dwar li tara s-sitwazzjoni aktar bis-sħiħ.
Riżultat wieħed mhuwiex il-valur tiegħek¶
Eżami jkejjel ċerti ħiliet f'ġurnata partikolari taħt kundizzjonijiet partikolari. Ma tkejjelx il-qalb tajba, il-kreattività, ir-reżiljenza, l-umoriżmu, il-kurżità jew il-potenzjal tiegħek. Ħafna nies li tħabtu fl-iskola jew weħlu minn eżami komplew biex jippremjaw ħajjiet u karrieri, ħafna drabi b’rotta li l-ewwel ma jimmaġinawx.
Ħafna riżultati jistgħu jinbidlu jew jinħadmu¶
Skont il-pajjiż u l-eżami, ħafna drabi jkun hemm diversi għażliet:
- Reviżjoni jew rimarka tal-karta tiegħek.
- Appell formali.
- A terġa' tieħu jew terġa 'lura, xi drabi fi żmien ġimgħat jew xhur.
- Rotot alternattivi fil-kors tiegħek, bħal programmi ta' fondazzjoni jew ta' aċċess, snin ta' pont, mogħdijiet vokazzjonali, jew trasferiment wara l-ewwel sena.
- Jużaw kwalifiki oħra jew evidenza ta' ħila.
- Applikazzjoni permezz ta' sistemi ta' tard jew ta' clearing għal postijiet universitarji f'xi pajjiżi.
- Li tieħu perijodu ta' vojt biex tirkupra u terġa' tiġbor.
Forsi ma tarax dawn l-għażliet għall-ewwel għax id-diżappunt idejjaq il-ħsieb. Li titkellem ma' għalliem, konsulent jew konsulent tal-karrieri tiftaħ l-għażliet.
Nases tal-ħsieb li għandek toqgħod attent għalihom¶
| Nassa tal-ħsieb | Eżempju | Ħsieb aktar bilanċjat |
|---|---|---|
| Kollox jew xejn | "Fallit, allura jien falliment" | "Għamilt ħażin f'dan l-eżami. Għadni nista' nitgħallem u nerġa' nipprova." |
| Catastrophizing | "My life is over" | "This is a setback. I need to find out what my options are." |
| Qari tal-moħħ | "Everyone will think I am stupid" | "I do not know what others think. Most people are busy with their own lives." |
| Ġeneralizzazzjoni żejda | "Jien dejjem ifalli" | "Jien għamilt tajjeb f'affarijiet oħra, u dan ma jikkanċellax dawk." |
| Self blame | "It was all my fault" | "Some things were in my control, and some were not. I can learn from both." |
| Future telling | "I will never get a job" | "Ma nistax inbassar il-futur. Nista 'nagħmel il-pass żgħir li jmiss." |
Li tikteb il-ħsibijiet tiegħek u tipprova tweġiba aktar bilanċjata tista 'tnaqqas il-qabda tagħhom. Tgħin ukoll li tistaqsi x’tgħid lil xi ħabib minflokek.
Ħares lejn l-istampa kollha¶
Staqsi lilek innifsek:
- Liema partijiet minn dan huma fil-kontroll tiegħi issa?
- X'inhuma l-għażliet realistiċi?
- Xi rrid, apparti dan ir-riżultat?
- Min jista’ jgħinni?
- X'nixtieq nagħmel differenti d-darba li jmiss?
M'għandekx bżonn it-tweġibiet kollha llum.
Nifhmu r-riżultat tiegħek¶
Ladarba tħossok aktar sod, ħares mill-qrib lejn dak li ġara. Din hija informazzjoni, mhux ġudizzju.
Iċċekkja d-dettalji¶
- Aqra bir-reqqa l-avviż tar-riżultat, inkluż kwalunkwe tqassim skont it-taqsima jew is-suġġett.
- Iċċekkja n-numru tal-kandidat tiegħek, is-suġġetti u l-livell huma korretti.
- Ħares lejn il-konfini tal-gradi, jekk ippubblikati, biex tara kemm kont qrib.
- Note any deadlines for reviews, appeals or retakes, which can be short.
Itlob għall-feedback¶
Ħafna korpi tal-eżami u skejjel joffru feedback jew rapporti. Staqsi lill-għalliem tiegħek biex jgħaddi mill-karta tiegħek jekk tista' tarah, jew biex tiddiskuti l-prestazzjoni tiegħek fl-eżamijiet finta u fix-xogħol tal-kors. Raġunijiet komuni għal riżultat inqas milli mistenni jinkludu:
- Qari ħażin jew fehim ħażin tal-mistoqsijiet.
- Running out of time.
- Gaps in specific topics.
- Anxiety or illness on the day.
- Less practice with exam style questions.
- Not showing working or not answering what was asked.
- Technical or administrative problems.
Knowing the cause helps you decide whether to appeal, retake, or change direction. If illness, a panic attack or a disruption affected you, mention it. See the guides on attakk ta’ paniku waqt test u loġistika tal-ġurnata tal-eżami u emerġenzi for special consideration.
Appeals, reviews and checks¶
Many national systems allow students to challenge results, but rules differ by country and exam body. The steps below are general. Always read the current policy of your exam body, and ask your school or exams officer, since appeals are often submitted through the school.
Types of challenge¶
| Process | What it is | Typical features |
|---|---|---|
| Check of marking or clerical check | A check that marks were added up correctly and recorded | Usually quick and low cost |
| Review of marking or remark | An examiner re-marks your paper | Marks can go up, stay the same, or go down in some systems |
| Access to scripts | You or the school can view your paper | Helps decide whether to appeal |
| Formal appeal | Sfida tal-proċess jew tad-deċiżjoni | Jista' jinvolvi l-korp tal-eżami u xi drabi korp indipendenti |
| Special consideration | Aġġustament għal mard, telf jew tfixkil fil-ħin tal-eżami | Needs evidence and usually school submission |
| Complaint about unfair treatment | If rules were broken or you were disadvantaged | Follow school and exam body complaints process |
Practical steps¶
- Find the deadline. Deadlines can be as short as a few weeks or less. Ask your school today.
- Ask how the process works and what it costs. Some reviews have a fee that may be refunded if your grade changes. Ask about fee waivers.
- Understand the risks. In some systems a re-mark can lower a mark as well as raise it. Ask for the policy.
- Gather evidence. Collect medical letters, records of disruption, and anything that shows what happened.
- Submit through the right route. In many countries the school submits on your behalf. Keep copies and confirmation.
- Be patient. Results of reviews can take weeks. Plan your next steps in parallel, for example registering for a retake.
In the United States, the College Board and ACT have their own policies for score questions, and for school courses the district's grade appeal process applies. At university, there is usually a formal academic appeals procedure, with deadlines and a requirement for grounds such as procedural error or extenuating circumstances. If the issue relates to an accusation of cheating, see the guide on integrità akkademika u akkużi ta’ qerq.
If a technology failure in an online exam affected your result, document it and see the guide on ħabtiet tal-eżami ta' proctoring onlajn.
Retakes u rotot oħra¶
Jagħmel eżami mill-ġdid¶
- Staqsi meta tkun is-seduta li jmiss u kif tirreġistra.
- Skopri jekk ir-riżultat il-ġdid jissostitwixxix dak l-antik, jew jekk it-tnejn jgħoddux, u jekk hemmx limiti fuq tentattivi.
- Iċċekkja l-ispiża u l-iskadenzi.
- Aħseb dwar dak li se tbiddel: metodi ta 'studju, appoġġ, ħin, saħħa.
- Staqsi lill-għalliem jew lit-tutur tiegħek għal għajnuna mmirata.
- Ikkunsidra li tistaqsi għal akkomodazzjonijiet jekk ma kontx qabel. Il-gwida fuq akkomodazzjonijiet tat-test u jkollna appoġġ jispjega kif.
Ħafna studenti jagħmlu aħjar fit-tieni tentattiv, għax jafu l-format, il-pressjoni tħossha familjari u jistgħu jiffissaw lakuni speċifiċi.
Nibdlu r-rotta¶
Xi drabi l-aħjar tweġiba hija triq differenti. Staqsi lil konsulent tal-karrieri, għalliem jew uffiċċju tad-dħul dwar:
- Kwalifiki alternattivi li jwasslu għall-istess għan.
- Snin ta' fundazzjoni, korsijiet ta' pont jew aċċess.
- Jibda f'kulleġġ u jittrasferixxi.
- Apprendistati jew taħriġ vokazzjonali.
- Deferred entry or a gap year.
- Korsijiet differenti li japprezzaw is-saħħiet tiegħek.
- Late application rounds.
Jekk il-post tal-università jew tal-kulleġġ tiegħek jiddependi minn dan ir-riżultat, ikkuntattja lill-uffiċċju tal-ammissjonijiet malajr, spjega s-sitwazzjoni tiegħek u staqsi x'jistgħu joffru. Tassumux li t-tweġiba hija le. Għal kwistjonijiet dwar il-kundizzjonijiet tal-offerta u l-ammissjonijiet, ara l-gwida dwar college admissions rescission and grade drops.
Effetti finanzjarji u prattiċi¶
If a result affects funding, a scholarship or a visa, contact the relevant office early. Many have appeal or exception routes. Keep copies of all communications.
Talking to parents and guardians¶
Many students dread telling their family. You may fear anger, disappointment or arguments. Planning the conversation can help.
Before you talk¶
- Choose a calm time and place. Avoid telling them when they are rushing or upset.
- Decide what you want to say. You might write it down.
- Ask a trusted adult, such as a teacher, counsellor or relative, to be there if it helps.
- Think about what you need from them: listening, practical help, patience.
What you can say¶
- "I got my results and they are not what I hoped for. I am upset and I need your support."
- "I want to tell you what happened and what I think my options are."
- "Please can we talk about next steps once we have both calmed down?"
If you fear a harsh reaction¶
Tell a teacher or counsellor first. They can be present, help you explain, or speak with your family. If you fear for your safety at home, tell a trusted adult and contact local child protection services or a helpline. In the United Kingdom, Childline is 0800 1111, and other countries are listed on the numri ta' emerġenza paġna.
Listening to their feelings¶
Parents may react strongly because they care and are worried. Give them a little time too. After the first reaction, many families can plan together.
Talking to teachers and the school¶
Teachers and counsellors have seen many students in your position. Ask to meet and bring a short list of questions:
- Tista’ tispjega x’mar ħażin, ibbażat fuq il-karta jew il-mocks tiegħi?
- X'inhuma l-għażliet tiegħi: reviżjoni, appell, resit, rotot oħra?
- X'inhuma l-iskadenzi?
- Tista' l-iskola tgħin bl-applikazzjoni jew l-evidenza?
- Nista' jkolli appoġġ jew tagħlim żejjed?
- Nista' nitkellem ma' konsulent tal-karrieri jew konsulent?
Kun onest dwar kif qed tħossok. L-għalliema jistgħu joffru appoġġ għall-benessri biss jekk ikunu jafu li għandek bżonnha.
Pariri għall-ġenituri¶
Kif tirrispondi fl-ewwel sigħat jista’ jsawwar kif it-tifel/tifla tiegħek ilaħħqu. Is-stabilità tiegħek hija importanti.
L-ewwel reazzjonijiet¶
- Oqgħod kalm, anki jekk tħossok xokk jew diżappunt. Tista 'tipproċessa s-sentimenti tiegħek aktar tard ma' adult ieħor.
- Għid, "Inħobbok, u dan ma jbiddilx dan."
- Isma aktar milli titkellem.
- Tagħtix tort, tqabbel ma 'aħwa jew ħbieb, jew tgħid "Għidtlek hekk."
- Offerta ikel, mistrieħ u kumpanija.
- Avoid immediate talk about consequences or punishments.
In the next days¶
- Ask what they think, and what they want to do.
- Help them find facts: deadlines, options, contacts.
- Iltaqa' mal-iskola flimkien jekk jaqblu.
- Żomm ir-rutini tal-familja sodi.
- Oqgħod attent għal sinjali li d-diżappunt qed jinbidel f’xi ħaġa aktar profonda.
- Take care of yourself and seek support, because this can be stressful for parents too.
For more advice on supporting a child, see the guide on kif il-ġenituri jistgħu jgħinu lit-tifel permezz tal-istress tal-eżami.
X'għandek tevita li tgħid¶
| Evita | Għaliex | Ipprova minflok |
|---|---|---|
| "How could you do this to us?" | Adds guilt and shame | "I can see how upset you are. Let us work it out." |
| "You should have worked harder." | Tħossok tort | "What do you think happened?" |
| "Your cousin did much better." | Il-paragun jagħmel ħsara lill-valur personali | "You are you. Let us look at your options." |
| "It does not matter." | Dismisses their feelings | "I know it matters to you. Let us talk." |
| "You have ruined your future." | Fjuwils ħsieb katastrofiku | "There are several paths from here." |
Looking after yourself in the days after¶
Recovery is not a straight line. A few habits support your mind and body.
- Sleep. Keep a regular schedule, and avoid late night scrolling.
- Food and water. Regular meals support mood.
- Movement. A daily walk, sport or dance helps process stress.
- Connection. Spend time with people who care, in person if you can.
- Routine. Small structure, like getting dressed and eating at set times, helps when motivation is low.
- Enjoyable activities. Music, hobbies, time outdoors or pets.
- Limit alcohol and caffeine. Both can worsen anxiety and low mood.
- Limit comparisons. Mute social media or group chats if they hurt.
- Let feelings come and go. Writing, art or talking can help.
Planning a small next step¶
When you feel ready, choose one small action: find the appeal deadline, email a teacher, book a counsellor appointment, or look up one alternative route. Small steps restore a sense of control.
When disappointment becomes a mental health concern¶
Sadness after a bad result is normal. But sometimes it deepens into something more serious, such as depression, an anxiety disorder or suicidal thinking. Pay attention to how long the feelings last and how severe they are.
Signs that you or someone you know needs more support¶
- Feeling very low, empty or hopeless most of the day for more than two weeks.
- Losing interest in things you used to enjoy.
- Sleeping far more or far less than usual.
- Changes in appetite or weight.
- Irtirar minn ħbieb u familja.
- Constant worry, panic attacks or physical symptoms like stomach pain and headaches.
- Difficulty concentrating, or school work collapsing.
- Using alcohol or drugs to cope.
- Giving away belongings, saying goodbye, or talking about being a burden.
- Statements like "there is no point," "everyone would be better off without me," or "I do not want to be here."
- Thoughts of suicide or self harm.
Min tikkuntattja¶
- A school or university counsellor, who can arrange support quickly.
- A doctor, who can check physical health and discuss treatment.
- Adult fdat bħal ġenitur, qarib jew għalliem.
- Helplines u linji tat-test. Ħafna huma ħielsa u kunfidenzjali.
Servizzi tas-saħħa bħas-Servizz Nazzjonali tas-Saħħa fir-Renju Unit (NHS) u l-Assoċjazzjoni Psikoloġika Amerikana jirrakkomandaw terapiji tat-taħdit bħala trattamenti effettivi għad-dipressjoni u l-ansjetà fiż-żgħażagħ. Deċiżjonijiet dwar it-trattament, inkluż kwalunkwe medikazzjoni, huma għal tabib. Din il-gwida ma tagħti l-ebda parir dwar il-medikazzjoni.
Jekk qed taħseb biex ittemm ħajtek jew tweġġa’ lilek innifsek
Tell someone now. Call your local emergency number (911 in the United States and Canada, 112 across the European Union, 999 in the United Kingdom) if you are in danger or have already harmed yourself. In the United States and Canada you can call or text 988, in the United Kingdom and Ireland you can call Samaritans on 116 123, and young people in the United Kingdom can call Childline on 0800 1111. The numri ta' emerġenza page lists other countries. Stay with another person, remove anything you could use to hurt yourself, and read the guide on kriżi tas-saħħa mentali.
If you are worried about someone else¶
Ask directly and kindly: "I am worried about you. Are you thinking about hurting yourself?" Asking does not plant the idea. Listen without judging, stay with them, and help them contact a crisis line, a doctor or emergency services. Do not keep serious concerns secret, even if they ask you to.

Comparing your options¶
| Għażla | Best when | Things to check |
|---|---|---|
| Review or remark | You think the marking was inaccurate and you were near a boundary | Deadlines, fees, whether marks can go down |
| Appeal | You think a process was unfair or rules were broken | Evidence and grounds, who submits |
| Special consideration | Illness, bereavement or disruption affected you on the day | Evidence and timing |
| Retake | You want to improve and the system allows it | Dates, cost, which result counts |
| Alternative route | A different pathway can reach your goal | Entry requirements, time, cost |
| Gap period | You need time to recover or reset | Funding, deferrals, plans |
| Talk to admissions | A place depends on the result | Flexibility, deadlines, evidence |
Tagħlim mill-esperjenza¶
When you feel ready, a gentle review can help you grow. This is not self blame. It is practical learning.
- What worked well in your preparation, and what did not?
- Were there topics you avoided?
- How did you manage time in the exam?
- How was your sleep, food and stress in the weeks before?
- Would different study methods help, such as active recall and past papers? The guide on cramming b'mod sikur meta l-ħin ikun qasir lists methods that work.
- Do you need support, such as accommodations or counselling?
- What would you tell a friend in your situation?
Writing your answers down turns a painful experience into a plan. Many people say later that a setback taught them study skills, self knowledge or resilience that they would not have gained otherwise.
Miti komuni¶
Myth: One bad exam ruins my future. Many careers and courses can be reached by several routes, and many successful people had setbacks.
Myth: Appeals never work. Some do, particularly where there was a marking or administrative error or where special circumstances are documented. Others do not, so ask for realistic advice.
Myth: If I tell my parents, they will never forgive me. Most families recover, and many parents respond with support once the shock passes.
Myth: I should just get over it quickly. Grief and disappointment take time. Allowing yourself to feel, while taking small steps, is healthy.
Myth: Needing help means I am weak. Asking for support is a strong and practical choice.
A checklist for the first week¶
- Għidt lil xi ħadd li jien nafda.
- Qed niekol, nixrob u norqod.
- Ma ħadtx deċiżjonijiet kbar fl-ewwel jum.
- I wrote down the facts, deadlines and questions.
- Staqsejt lill-iskola tiegħi dwar għażliet ta’ reviżjoni, appell u teħid mill-ġdid.
- I talked to a teacher or adviser about alternative routes.
- I know who to contact if I feel unsafe or very low.
- I planned one small next step for tomorrow.

Policies change often and differ by country and exam body. Check the current rules of yours. This guide is general information, not legal or medical advice, and contains no medication advice.
Mistoqsijiet frekwenti¶
What should I do in the first hours after a bad result?¶
Pause, breathe slowly, eat and drink, and tell one person you trust so you are not alone with it. Avoid big decisions, alcohol and drugs, and angry messages. Once the first wave passes, write down the facts, deadlines and questions, and ask your school about options.
Can I challenge my exam result?¶
Often yes, though the process differs by country and exam body. Options include a check of marking, a remark, access to your paper, a formal appeal, and special consideration if illness or disruption affected you. Ask your school or exams officer for deadlines straight away, because they can be short, and ask whether a remark can lower as well as raise your mark.
How do I tell my parents about a bad result?¶
Choose a calm time, decide what you want to say, and consider asking a teacher or counsellor to help. You can say that the result is not what you hoped, that you are upset and need support, and that you would like to talk about options. If you fear for your safety at home, tell a trusted adult and contact a helpline.
When is disappointment a sign of a mental health problem?¶
Seek help if low mood, hopelessness, withdrawal, sleep or appetite changes, panic or loss of interest last more than about two weeks, or if you use alcohol or drugs to cope. Talk to a school counsellor or doctor. If you have thoughts of suicide or self harm, tell someone now and call your local emergency number or a crisis line such as 988 in the United States and Canada or Samaritans on 116 123 in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
